Re: KONI struts not inserts for Mk2?

I've never heard of complete Koni struts (inclusive of casings), but they do do them for other cars, so maybe the are available in the States, although I'd wonder if they were exactly the same setup wise as those sold in Europe.. :-k Alternative is Rev1 strut casings, get them blasted / powdercoated...

Re: How do I get the ABS sensor off the hub?

Be very careful. The 10mm bolt is all that retains the sensor in theory, but the reality is that the sensor will most likely have seized in the sensor bore in the hub. I tried before to gentry wiggle and prize the sensor out, and all that ended up happening was that it snapped in two. ](*,) After th...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] The V12 Mk2 thread

Paul, you're right of course, it would mean pretty much any engine could be installed, including the 2JZ / RB26 etc. They are heavy lumps, but at least you could put up a sticky post for the perenial 'will the 3L Supra twin-turbo engine fit?' question that seems to come up every feckin couple of mon...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] The V12 Mk2 thread

The 6.0 W12 is a good bit shorter (about the length of an Audi V8 ), but try getting a hold of one for a reasonable price in this country... So I'm sure the W16 would fit too, although 4 turbo's would mean you'd probably need one of those engine lids fan kits...  http://i48.photobucket.c...

Re: Turbo Install

Hmmm, dunno Jim, as its Keith's (KM) old car, and it came with a set of SARD 800's (or 850's, not too sure) to be fitted. I'm presuming it's got Rev3+ 540's in it, because it's hitting 1 bar on a GT3071r, and from what I know of 3S-GTE's, 440's wouldn't keep up with that flow rate... :-k I'm thinkin...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] VVT Adjustment Retrofit

I'd want to spend perhaps ~£200-£300 :D It was really to see if anyone else had considered it from a mechanical perspective. If the VVT camshaft is of a fundmentally differerent construction, then your right, it would be an expensive exercise, but was more whether Toyota had perhaps left any commona...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] 1ZZ-FE (Coil-on-Plug) Conversion

your gonna need to get the ecu on a computer and find out how it's using it's outputs to know what you can drop and what you need. i'll DL the manual for some light reading this evening and report back tomorrow. if i was doing it, i'd be using the crank sensor upgrade and losing the dizzy. less rot...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] 1ZZ-FE (Coil-on-Plug) Conversion

Only to say if you're dynoing and having the G3 re-mapped then I'd be interesting to know where you go. I've been looking for ages for someone to have a look at my G3 XLEM and haven't found anywhere here which knows about Links yet. If you're dab handy with them anyway I'd really appreciate a scan ...

Re: Turbo Install

Is there a way of telling what size injectors are fitted, if I was to remove one? I bought a Rev2 turbo which alegedlly has ~350hp, but I was wondering what size of injectors it would need for that power!

Ah, on closer inspection I think I was barking up the wrong tree - looks like yours has the sticker / plate on top of the manifold removed, which threw me! ](*,) Its running fine, just haven't really used it since I bought it because of the crap weather, Christmas, offshore for a bit and various oth...

Re: Turbo Install

Good write up Steve :thumleft: And plenty pics which really helps. Never changed a turbo myself either, but would give me a bit more confidence to do the same having seen this. Left field question - you have a Rev 3+ intake manifold, does that fit straight on the Rev 2 head? Presume Rev3+ throttle b...

[Mk2] [Generic] VVT Adjustment Retrofit

Random thought of the day, has anybody considered retro-fitting a variable cam timing mechanism from say, a 1ZZ-FE engine (comes in most Toyota engines now though), to an older S-series engine? I know the final versions of the 3S-GE engine (commonly known as 'BEAMS' engines) came with either variabl...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] 1ZZ-FE (Coil-on-Plug) Conversion

Seems like a decent bit of kit! But my 4x coils and wiring only cost me £60, and in theory shouldn't cost me anymore (although I'll probably break something..)

I'll definately keep it in mind though.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] 1ZZ-FE (Coil-on-Plug) Conversion

wont you need a crank or cam signal? Indeed, and part of the reason why I'm keeping the guts of the standard dizzy in place, as this sends both crank and cam to the ECU. An improved (more accurate basically) version would use a trigger wheel for the crank angle sensor mounted directly onto the cran...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] 1ZZ-FE (Coil-on-Plug) Conversion

Thanks for the offer PB :) The celica side of the wiring is actually straight forward - only need to connect a 12v live, earth and a trigger to each coil. All four coils will use common 12v and earth wires. The trigger wiring to the ECU is the only one's I'm not sure about right now. If you have any...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] The V12 Mk2 thread

Paul, not yet, been meaning to line it up to the V8, although being Audi, it has the same bell house pattern, so no adaptor required as far as I can see. I think there may be minor mods required to the starter area, and possible the starter side exhuast manifold, but nothing major in the grant schem...
