Bloody gritters!

The sun is out, I had a couple of hours to kill so I gave my two a good clean, wax, the works. I find it's when you clean it that you pick up the imperfections. Im feeling particularly grumpy this time! I got my import tubby in November - paintwork was immaculate. It had managed to be like th...

This gives you the details of what needs doing. Do pay heed to the measurements etc - get it wrong and your clutch won't last too long.

Rear suspension arms - acceptable play

Whilst trying out my new trolley jack I was having a good prod and poke around under the back of the car to see if I could figure out where the annoying clonking was coming from. I gave the lower suspension arms a good shaking in all directions (the ones that have adjusters half-way down, connect th...

Re: Most suspicious mr2 in the world?

It could also have been unregistered until '96 too, in which case the N plate is totally genuine. Just imagine the poor thing languishing for years on some forecourt somewhere while all its 3S-GE equipped siblings were being bought up around it. Maybe some 3S-FE enthusiast should buy it out of pity ...

Re: Most suspicious mr2 in the world?

The seller states its UK car though!! But yes i agree there are so many conflicts in the ad that surely the seller cannot be trying to seriously deceive anyone. Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. It's obviously a UK car (side repeaters, number plates, etc.) - I just meant to highlight (by using the...

Re: [Mk3 ] Auto Express - 'Driver Power' results (MK3)

Just look at the cars in the top 10 to understand this poll: Skoda: bought by the price-conscious control freak who aspires to VW reliability (even though that is a thing of the past!) BMW: bought by those who want flash from their cash and don't mind shouting about it, even though they don't unders...

Re: Most suspicious mr2 in the world?

The car is listed as an N reg, which I beleive means that it is meant to be nothing other than a Rev 3? Instead, the car is what appears to be a rev 1, with the following rev 1 items: wheels front splitter rear lights and centre panel It is also listed as having the 3s-fe engine, a rev 1 engine. an...

Re: Gear gater surround

Have a look in the affiliates section - Rhon does some excellent leather gear gaiters and gearknob/doorcard refurbs. I have one of the gaiters and it is top notch and dirt cheap at £11.

Re: flames or sparks!?

Just a thought - if you've only just got the car, maybe there's some crud in the exhaust that is being ignited and blow out? I'm no expert, but mine farts and pops - there are so many things that influence that though. If there is no cat, then there isn't anything I know of apart from carbon build-u...

Re: Thieving Little Scumbags...

Hate to put a downer on things MR2_Turbo, but changing the externals isn't going to stop someone getting in. Messing with the lock is the most time-consuming way to get into an MR2 - a coat hanger will get you in without much effort unfortunately. I'll not post details, but I'm sure it's been covere...

Re: Difference between GT and GTS???

I like to think the S stands for 'Sport' - i.e. lighter.

My impression is that the GT-S was made for the purists so they could have it as stripped down (within reason) as they wanted, or maybe I'm just trying to kid myself I didn't get the cheap version

Good choice :) As we all know the tin top is the man's version too, none of this airy fairy T-Bar stuff... But either way, light years ahead of the Ford RST and worth the extra money! Hey...enough with the T-bar bashing! It takes a man to put up with leaky seals and (allegedly) comp...

Swapping factory fitted Recaros over - don't do it!

The cloth Recaro driver's seat in my '2 is slightly worn on the side bolster so I thought I'd swap them over to prevent further wear. What a mistake that turned out to be! Firstly, once you swap the runners/frames over you discover the seats aren't quite as symmetrical as they first appear. There's ...

And here's what our good old friend the Highway Code has to say: 'Lane Discipline... ... Return to the left-hand lane once you have overtaken all the vehicles or you are delaying traffic behind you.' Surely this can't be too complex for the average VW driver? Perhaps someone could start a pre...

Re: [Mk2 Generic] RE: Smallest bass speaker

I have my Alpines running off a 200w headunit (4x50w output) - they aren't loud enough to disturb the population, but they're fine for me. I am no ICE expert (although I know a fair bit about music technology and acoustics in general) and don't know the Phoenix speakers you're talking about, so don'...
