Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Next minor niggle :D
   What is it you actually do? Working on cars when welding or grinding metal can be classed as 'dangerous', REGARDLESS OF WHERE ON THE CAR IT IS. Hence there is a fire extinguisher at the ready ANYWAY. Because I was working near the fuel tank, I made sure there was someone around. I...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] i want 300bhp ish :P
I'm working with the stock engine, hence the design is a constant, not a variable. I chose not to use race fuel for the sake of showing what can be achieved on pump fuel, as it is attainable by everybody. Ergo, octane is a constant, not a variable. What I have written is 100% correct, I'm afraid. No...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Next minor niggle :D
Why would Toyota have put an access hole in the car? They get more money for dropping the tank and doing it that way than putting an access hole in. Don't think it was for rigidity purposes. :thumleft: I think toyota thought their pumps would last 20 years...no real need for an access hole on a roa...

Far from trolling, but backing up (whilst at the same time pointing out and confirming you like to bodge) other members comments, possibly so future members dont go down the route of hacking and bodging a dangerous access hole, and decide to do things properly, ie: drop the tank  It is a hole...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Stock Rev2 3SGTE: 487.3bhp & 364.6lbft, 2.2 bar & 8100RPM
You have to run a lot of boost to get that power, with 2.2 bar boost and some high octane fuel you should be up around 650hp. I expect you have retarded the ignition timing back too far, try and richen up the fuelling and put the timing back where Toyota designed it to be and it should be much bett...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Next minor niggle :D
Bodge! On sooooo many levels! lol about the motorsport. If you're going to be in and out you just run an external pump. hahaha and you think that even if they did, that they'd cut the panel with the tank still in the car?? #-o I've seen pictures of your car and work. I feel I have a fair idea. Unle...

Its a bodge  pure and simple. my post from a previous topic still stands:  everything you post either condones bodged tuning methods or cheap crappy parts And you're still trolling, as stated by someone other than myself. Now you're following me around repeating yourself where you can. E...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Next minor niggle :D
Simply put, and by dictionary definition, it isn't a bodge, any more than any other fit for purpose mod, for example things that WRC teams might do to their shells, racers etc. Allow me to clarify: Definition of bodge verb make or repair (something) badly or clumsily: the door was bodged together f...

Re: oil spray
Is there a lot of oil in your intake tract? Be aware that this is a surefire way to induce detonation as it lowers the effective octane of the fuel.![](./images/smilies/spacer.gif)

Pre-ignition is the most destructive & dangerous combustive event to occur in an engine. Pre-ignition : The mixture is ignited prior to the timed spark event. Causes are simply hot spots within the combustion chamber. Typically caused by thin-wire precious metal plugs (plat. & iridium) desig...

Re: The Turbonoz MR2 Budget Beast: 487bhp & 364lb·ft
Well, along with the Wossners waiting in the wings, I'll source some suitable cams & uprated valve springs plus keep some ARP rod bolts on standby. This would give me a good spec for the season if needed, along with some race fuel of course. Saying that, if it does hold together at 450+bhp, the ...

Re: Poddington.
Sorry NOS My car is on the drive and rusting ATM - No pod for me :( Hence why I only check in now and again. I would think to get the best out of the stock bottom end balancing the rods and having them peened would be a great start. They are pretty heavy and have a lot of sprue around the edges tha...
