Re: Tyres, tyres, tyres...

I think the only way you'll get an answer to this is try both :) I would however recommend you get some decent tyres like Yoko's if you are going to keep with street items. Cheaper low grip tyres ain't always progressive and may fall a part with track work. R888's are fine in damp conditions but won...

Cadwell Park 28th May

I went and did a trackday at Cadwell Park this week and thought I'd do a little write up. The day started off very wet with torrential downfall but it had all but stopped by the time I got into Nottingham at 6. After a couple of hours drive we arrived at a slightly wet and very slippy track so much ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Mr2 Mk2 SW20 standard wheel nuts, help??

Rev 1 Mr2's used 14 Inch wheels with 205 size wheels on the back (can't remember the wheel diameter).

So there would have been a different size nut for those.

Rev 2 onwards large ones for the back small ones for the front.

Re: [All] [Generic] Aerodynamics fro track use

Hehe Interesting idea. Cooling is something I've been thinking of doing and which I need to get sorted before I get around to removing the dash + heat matrix. I don't think you'd notice much of an effect on the aerodynamics's until 100+ and the reduction in weight would help. However I think you mig...

Re: Toyota Sprint - Barkston

Looks like some serious commitment there, I love the front wheel off the ground ;) Makes mine look a bit pale in comparision, can see the difference in the body roll mind http://www.norwichphoto.co.uk/tss/r2/mr2/white/slides/IMG_3072.jpg I thought you'd made a good improvement over the first event v...

Re: Toyota Sprint - Barkston

Thanks for the complements guys. I'm unbelively pleased with yesterday, it's got to be the highlight of my driving career so far :) Congratulations to Patricks who once again set an impressive time, and Phil who did amazing well coming so close to that skarlet which is seriously fast. If you look at...

I'll be there hopefully with a new seat as my over sized hips don't fit in the one I've brought. Well not without giving me massive back pain!.

Re: Toyota Sprint this weekend

Next sprint is coming up next weekend!!! But before that something of equal importance. The Si vs Tom (Turbo vs V6) Weigh off!!. Now as you can see tom's striped alot but previously I've weighted my car in at 1147kg and i've done a few little things since ;) So the question is..... who will be light...

Re: MR2 Turbo vs Skyline R34 GTT

Minus Spare Tyre, Tool kit and Zero fuel my car came in at 1220KG.
I think thats as light as a stock ish Rev 3 turbo will be mind.

So 1240-1250kg from the factory is a min the mr2 can be, 1300-1350 with options is completely possible.

Re: Recommended wheel setup

Grip wise the R888s are almost on par with some of the bigger boys, the problem with the tyre is a) they overheat badly on higher power / heavier cars and b) the wear is appalling. The 968CS isn't a heavy or powerful car but we've managed 300 track miles out of a set and they're nearly dead. If I c...

Re: [All] [Generic] Any airfield track days coming up???

Right now if I could live anywhere in the world.

Nurburg would be at the top.

Other track days are like a water down down experience, it's ain't just the track it's the whole place.

Nice bit of info there mate :)

Did you get a chance to weight the heat matrix and related items.

Didn't I tell you I thought the dash weighted about 10kg ;)

Re: Toyota Sprint this weekend

After looking at the glass in the doors I've decided not to bother going with polycarbonate windows for now. I'm guessing the window weights about 4-5kg so were taking 5kg saving for both sides max, which is ok but if you've got to make a frame to go around to some flexing hmm well I think it will b...

Re: Recommended wheel setup

I hate peoples obsession with the R888. Ditto. Ditto. For what the R888's cost the sprint championship entrants, one can't complain, but they are severely overated :-: If you ask me allot of these type of tyres are quite comparable (There is only a few % difference in the tyre test speeds) and the ...
