Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Coilover kit recommendation?

There ok for me mate. Little stiff, but then what do you expect. They improve handling no end. I wouldn't go back. They feel like a bed of feathers compared to the springs I had.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] question for the turbo guru's - wastegate location

Just looking at recent posts as not been about for a few weeks. Then I am just sticking my oar in here and there :D

Errrrmmm not totally sure. I am pretty sure a T04 is pretty comparable to a 3076, which is quite big and I would say anything 30 upwards needs external for best results.

Re: [Mk2] [turbo] rev2 inlet manifolds

No offence taken mate.

I couldn't tell you with regard to engine sound as did the whole build all at once. I would say its minimal as with an external screamer thats all you can hear. So much so I am getting a bit hacked off with it.

Re: can't boost past .8 bar...AVCR rev 2

If it won't make boost with 90% its not plumbed in right. Make sure you have everything plumbed correctly with regard to the solenoid. HT leads etc won't really effect boost, the turbo will spool regardless...........as long as your not missing excessively etc. For a really crude check just connect ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] question for the turbo guru's - wastegate location

A T04 is pretty big so an external gate will be best at controlling boost.

Teins all day.

Well proven, decent value, well made, well tested, big company, you knwo they have doen some research. Anything else is potentially a gamble.

Re: [Mk2] [turbo] rev2 inlet manifolds

I wouldn't have bothered mate. It's £600 wasted. Yeah they look good and are very well made but are OTT. A caldina or stock rev3 is ample. A rev2 with a custom plenum did me plenty good enough.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] GT2876r

I reckon a GT28rs will be the boyo. If he's happy not chasing figures it will hit decent numbers but spool really well and be super quick on the road. I snuck over 500bhp on a GT3071 but for me its laggier than I wanted/anticipated. He has to decide, awesome spool/driveability vs. potential big numb...

Re: TRD Widebody - 509.6BHP!

Hi guys, Sorry for the delay in response. I haven't had any automatic updates telling me people had commented on here. I put a dyno chart in a different thread, in modifications I think it was. The original Evo housing was binned and I went to a 4 bolt 3" housing to allow easy fitment to the XS...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

I may give the dyno a ring to ask what correction factor was used as how one run made 490's with the AT reading atmospheric temp and then made 509.6 with it reading 53'C is beyond me. It must have been a very small correction factor unless there is one which does no correction? I may get it dynoed a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

I can't see much point in it being used unless you have a hot engine bay. I guess it's good for shootouts as people will have better looking figures. It wasn't used on the day, presumably as they didn't deem it neccessary. It was used on the last runs as the IAT sensor was starting to show some high...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

Ok, I think I get what you are saying after reading it a few times. The previous runs were done with no IT, i.e it was just in the cabinet where the computer was so IT and AT were pretty much the same as the AT is manually input isn't it? I remember 24'C being typed in from a little weather station ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

Not entirely sure Michael. Mine is the 0.63ar exhaust. Dave said that the turbo was starting to run out of puff or hitting a restriction somewhere in the system. I modified the inlet manifold but it could still be that as it is on short rev2 runners with a large plenum. But also all my boost piping ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

No offence taken, I got your point though. The run previous to this had no thermocouple installed on my car. That run made 498bhp from memory. I am unsure where this correction factor comes from but its made 10bhp difference? Plus the car was actually cooler on the final run so would have been makin...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

The limiting factor for me was the temp getting up. You can always fiddle here and there for an extra few HP, but is it worth it? Just get it driving nice and forget the numbers. I am happy everything is really well matched on the car. I am going to get some better engine bay cooling, and get my pip...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

The runs were all done using the IAT in my inlet pipe which sits before the TB. On the last few runs the temp was creeping up so we fitted an additional sensor in. I am pretty sure the runs are uncorrected though. We just fitted the additional sensor to verify temps. The run previous did 498 before ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 500bhp on a 3071R!

The sad truth mate is that thats normally the most lucrative way of doing it. My mate broke his Pulsar for £6.5k, he'd have been lucky to get £4k for it whole!
