Just found a few instances online (albeit varying brands of car) where changing the fuel pump on a stock car led to issues.
I have bought a used fuel rail, regulator and injectors so might swap that in as well.
I initially thought that about the fuel pump but a few people have said more fuel will enter the engine as the injectors open due to more fuel being there at that split second. Aftermarket ecu will allegedly eliminate that with correct tuning. Will try another lambda tomorrow and see if its any diff...
Still in pursuit of my continuing issues. Quick recap. Wideband lambda reading really rich on cold start <10:1 and rich on hot idle 13.5ish. Hard to start when warm. Lots of black smoke if started, turned off and started again. Raced it at York the other week and was holding back on boost over 5k rp...
13.8ish, know it should be more 14.8 so still rich even when warmed up. Managed a longer run the other day though and got afr's behaving normal at idle, however I then had lean issue and holding back. Suspected faulty wideband at first but its definitely rich by the smoke and definitely holding back...
Started with a few more fuelling issues..... http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... 04#1623604
Coolant temp sensor was replaced about a year ago but guess trying another wouldn't hurt. Used an aftermarket part so quality might be suspect.
Anyone before I start randomly swapping all the fuel related items ie
Lambda
Regulator
Injectors
Coolant sensor
Reluctant to do that but something is causing mass over fuelling on start up. Could it be the Walbro pump? (although the regulator should manage that surely).
They never make the claimed 190bhp (even in the Celica), more like 170bhp in a roadster with its restrictive exhaust system. Lotus uses a different ecu, make of that what you will.
Depends how high you value it as well, took me a long time to sell my 2ZZ one at £2k.
I built a mk3 3SGTE (best of all worlds on paper imo) but also threw a 2ZZ in my daily Mk3 at the time. Was absolutely crap and the most overrated swap, struggled to sell the car as well for some reason (maybe too honest with my appraisal of it). I expected it to be similar to our EP3 but it was wor...
Hi all, This is probably linked to my other thread which didn't get many responses. http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=184799 Anyway took the car drag racing today and it didn't feel as quick as expected. Monitoring my AEM wideband on my third run I was horrified to see it reading off the ...
Rev 3 3SGTE with 3" downpipe and boost controller. Stock ecu. Only just started doing this in the last few months. If I start the car from cold wideband instantly drops below 10 (doesn't read any lower). If I turn car off immediately and restart a few minutes later it's missing and pumps out cl...
I never found the marks mentioned on my rev 2 or rev 3 engine. I always replace the lower cover and crank pulley and use the marks on that set to zero.
The only way to "release" the tensioner is to unbolt the two bolts holding it to the cylinder head and taking it off.
Just removed mine and realised its a fake. Engine in the previous car ran 1.1 bar but since I put it in this car and fitted the filter it only makes 0.9 bar. I put it down to the longer exhaust system but not so sure now. Fake filter has a 10mm smaller intake into the hard pipe and a step, could thi...
