Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Full boost at 5000rpm?

sounds like either a boost leak, boost control solenoid failure or EBC has lost its settings... It could also be in Limp mode but you would get a check engine light with that on the dash and iirc a rough idle. Check all the vacuum hoses are on , tight and not split. Go round the engine bay with the ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Power FC fault & idle cut

Thats why you sell the PFC first nick duhh! Considering the resale price of a pfc + commander nowadays is about £650, a link plus only sells for about £850 with adapter loom.

Watch that IACV , mine stuck at 2k once soon as i let the clutch up in 1st and the car starte...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Power FC fault & idle cut

Dont know about the first problem Nick other than check your wiring is still all intact, perhaps run a new solid live to all the +12 inputs from the battery. The second however sounds like the IACV. when fully open they will rev at 2000rpm ish and if its sticking it will give similar symptoms. take ...

Re: Genuine vs patent ebay Ball Joints??

Ok, not worried about the cost tbh, just wondered if there was any real difference.

So, are the fronts and rears different? i cant remember ? swear they are the same all round?

Genuine vs patent ebay Ball Joints??

Is there any real quality difference between Genuine toyota lower arm ball-joints and the patent part ones as found on ebay?

I cant see the cheap ones being 'weaker' as they are such a safety critical component of the steering, however how long they last in comparison i dont know?

Re: possible group buy.....madpsi ducktail spoiler

Afaik poya doesn't wind-tunnel test these or alike so its more than likely just for looks.

Also, i think you would be lucky to get one now as most of his stuff is limited edition and he sells out pretty dam quick!! :(

Re: can you build a 450hp mr2 at home? whats needed

Yes mate, i built mine at home with just a £150 halfords professional socket kit! Obviously i had to buy the parts and borrow the odd occasional special tool, but that was my only real tool kit and i did it in a single garage about 9ft wide.

Re: Precision vs Gt turbos

3s blocks are just too risky when making more than 350 whp. Rev 1,2 and 3 all tend to crack, usually between cylinders or at the water pump. How much power you make over 350whp before it goes is unknown but its usually between 350 ~ 500whp. I currently have a rev3 block and being as these are partic...

Re: Precision vs Gt turbos

Yea i can see that being an issue for you. The full race manifolds look well constructed but i think the shape needs to be a bit different -ie location of the turbo flange. I remember seeing Ants 35r on a full race ram horn design manifold and his IC hot pipe practically touched one of the manifold ...

Re: Precision vs Gt turbos

Yes I do think I remember reading that the gtx faired well against the HTA range, iirc producing slightly better results (like 2~3% improvement)however the HTA are not exactly new tech and are considerably cheaper than the Gtx. I swear I also remember reading that when you purchase a GTX you don't g...

Re: Precision vs Gt turbos

DoGTX are not worth the money. You forgot to post the next paragraph. You know, where you put your argument to back up your statement... Ok. Its down to what i have read mostly off Mr2oc but also off supra/Evo forums whilst looking for alternative options to my HTA. The GTX range, although perform ...

Re: Precision vs Gt turbos

Dont have any hard evidence or proof to hand but seems the Precision turbos give better results than the garrets, ie the 6262 spools about 150 rpm slower than the GT3582r but flows quite a bit more air -more like a GT40xx. The 6266 (iirc?) spools the same as the 6262 but makes even more power across...

Re: Getting there.. My "600whp" cashpit! WARNING LOTS OF PICS!

Quick update... 3s Block died @570bhp while going for a hard 4th to 5th pull uphill.. Seems a cylinder sleeve has sunk in the block and now it overheats whenever on boost. So, 5sfe block soon to be ordered with 88mm pistons and HD pins, half fill cement in the coolant cavities to increase wall stren...

Re: Rebuilding a Rev3 3SGTE to Stage 2 spec

Dont bother porting the head neither, totally unneeded unless your aiming 750bhp + This is also the point where you would be looking at 1mm os valves, so the porting would complement the larger valve size. Poilshing the exhaust side may be worth it, ive done it but tbh after a few miles i can only i...
