Re: Where to find a supercharger?

Mine was £300 this time last year.. for some reason its literally doubled this year.. no changes at my end, the quote was for it garaged, limited miles, 3rd car, and separate full no claims on it... was thro A-Plan.. The chap who bought it off me had to pay similiar too ~£600 In any case, ( OP ), yo...

Re: Where to find a supercharger?

Thanks, I didn't know you could still import them. I've still got to ring the insurance company up and talk to them about using an import as an everyday car.....that could be funny! Try the classic insurance companies, an imort supercharged AW11 doesnt cost that much than an N/a for me. Have you ha...

Re: What are they worth?

with an mot and tax... I'd say somewhere between £500 and £1000, depending on condition.

given that this

went for just under £1300, and was pretty much mint..

( and yes, I know it was Cat C, but hardly damaged...)

really depends on those rear arches...

Re: SC speedo and miles stopped working

cheers for that, I think I'll have another go...

I got the cable off before no problems, and attaching a drill to the cable got the speedo end working, so I'm pretty sure the problem is in the right angled drive bit..

No problems with mot and no speedo over here, not for last 3 mots..

Re: Speedo

The SC speedo drive at the gearbox end is different to the NA... I had this problem about 5 years ago and Mr Woods gave me some good advice on where to look and I also discovered some other things along the way. The most common problem with the SC speedo cable is the right-angle drive at the end of...

wheel/tyre sizes on my SC

I know the 'standard' car should have Standard tyres: 185/60/14 but mine has some aftermarket Enkei ( I think they are from an mx5... well they have mazda centre caps) wheels, with tyres 195/50/R15 So, I know they are 1 inch bigger, and also 10 mm wider ? I also appear to have some kind of spacers o...

Re: Exhaust gasket putty?

Nimbus, I have literally just walked in from doing mine. I replaced the manifold, nuts, bolts, washers and gasket. I dont know if you'll need all the bits that I used, unless you want to get the manifold off. Its a pain in the ar$e though. Hard to get to, and you have to remove the distributor. If ...

Re: Exhaust gasket putty?

Toyota don't use this horrible paste, just good clean joints, new studs/nuts/gaskets and torqued up properly, you should never need to use gungum or whatever it is on any exhaust system, they are after all designed to work without it no? Is there a list of part numbers for the gaskets and studs etc...

Re: supercharger V's N/A

having owned 2 NAs and now an SC for the past 18 months..

I'd say the SC feels more 'planted', difficult to describe, but it just feels more stable.

The engine is way better tho.. its just torque all the way

where to buy standard air filter

Got all the bits fitted, so went into Halfrauds today to pick up a new air filter element, and low an behold, they no longer seem to stock them ! :( where are peop...

Re: Caravan pulling?

I used to tow my glider trailer with my first mk1, back in the 90s.. It was an excellent tow car, very stable.. really must scan in those photos of it in action, like I promised.. I had a 'toyota' fitted towbar, and the weight of the glider + trailer must have been at least 600kg. I think you could ...

Re: supercharger speedo cable

you are sure its the speedo cable and not the little cog that drives it from the gearbox ?

just before you order a new cable.. as the difference in price is 10x... cog is a few quid, cable will be much more..
