Re: polycarbonate engine cover

I don't like crunchy nut cornflakes
there I've said it
would a car with Borbet wheels and a see through engine lid after a breakfast of said nutty cornflake ruin my life?
NO!*

it is but it is also very heavy and can suffer from cracking (I am also aware that some aftermarket tube manifolds can fall to pieces infront of your eyes!

Re: 20v Header

If i remember rightly he was using a later non-tvis engine and it posed problems. Cant remember all the detail though. no non tvis engine car went several years ago, 20v manifold I have doesn't fit due to clearance issues over starter motor and different flange (oooo flange!) it was on my to do lis...

Thanks

small port has an uprated oiling system so most of the + points are from the bottom end, stronger crank higher flow oil pump etc. google 4-AGE oil squirter for the info

Re: Corolla gt-s head

Well i have been skimming over the tinternet and found a webpage about engine swaps and there is a guy there who put the big port head age engine in his mk1.... ( and to AE92s until about mid 1990 when the non-TVIS smallport made an appearance ). May '89 is start of production date for small port 4...

Re: Corolla gt-s head

I ran a small port in a couple of MK1s for about 5 years, in std tune they are not much different to the big port with TVIS just a little more torque low down, i ran mine with std crossover ecu (not the best set up) Bill Hulme has run with both the AE92 ECU and his home made adapter to fit TVIS to t...

buy supermarket own brand corn flakes if you must, buy no name trainers, go on a Sun £9 holiday but don't skimp on tyres FFS! the best that could happen is you don't fully enjoy your car, if it all goes lady lumps skyward you will be backwards in a ditch in no time #-o

Re: Antenna/aerial location?

Than I´m wrong. But Mk1a singel sunroof definitely had the antenna in the roof and the 89 T-Bar I´ve parted out had the rear quarter one. The roof antenna looks ridiculous so I´ve welded the hole of it before the respray as well as the holes for the windshield washer nozzles. Took Mercedes Sprinter...

Re: Which coolant?

Fact is either red or blue is good enough if used in the correct mix/ratio just remember to completely drain the system and flush it if changing from one to the other as mixing red and blue can lead to a gel like substance which will clog the cooling system follow Jimi's guide and you'll not go far ...

Re: coolant temp connector

it has a wire locking clip on it, you just have to push it inwards to release it, if thats unclear you can remove the clip by levering it out with a small flat bladed screwdriver, be careful not to drop it because it will need refiiting to lock the connector in place

Re: Engine Belts

Somewhat misguided. Toyota belts are not made by Toyota, they are made by Mitsuboshi, now that's not a typo, i don't mean Mitsubishi. Mitsuboshi belts are of no better quality or have no more longevity than a Gates belt, both will easily see 60k. I use Gates on all my engines, and they will last ju...
