Oil Pressure
Is it possible to have too high an oil pressure? At tickover my oil pressure gauge sits just between the centre mark and the first of the two markers midway between centre and High. At 50mph the needle is on the higher of the two middle marks and above 70mph the needle is halfway from the second mar...

Have a look at this one, I bought rear arches from this guy and he also has this exhaust system for sale.

Mk1a radio cassette
I have a 1985 mk1a, fitted with the original push button radio cassette. It's really knackered and I want to upgrade but nothing outrageous just a basic radio cassete or single play CD player. The existing unit has a single plug fitting the car has two dash speakers and the underseat sub woofer. Sin...

Re: Nuts and Bolts
Thanks for the advice, just wondered if there were after market sets available, I've seen sets advertised for the engine bolts and sump etc. It's just the thought of going to Mr T and listing every bolt and price individually and then he says I'll have to order them for you.

Back Plates Yes or No?
Following on from my Nuts and bolts post I've recently lost the back plates to two of the hubs on my car through terminal rust, and I remember reading someone saying they helped direct air flow to the discs.
So are they essential, and if they are does anyone have any going spare?

Nuts and Bolts
Does anyone know of a supplier of replacement Nuts and Bolts for mk1's.??? I find that nearly every one on mine with the exception of the engine is crumbling away with rust and I'm forever having to hammer on an undersized socket to get a grip to undo them. I would love to be able to replace them wi...

Re: taking the sump off???
Had exactly the same problem you need run a knife around the outside edge to separate the plate from the sump and then remove the oil strainer to remove the plate. Be carefull when you rebuild its very easy to overtighten the sump bolts and strip the threads in the block.

Re: Rear tie rods needed
Eventually gave up trying to free the rods myself and took them to a garage to apply some brute force and ignorance. Lots of grunting and £30 later and we're sorted, well done to the guys in Autoquick Aberdeen.

Re: Rear tie rods needed
Thanks Lauren
I got about a quarter of an inch of movement each way on the track rod end, end? and it feels like its locking up against something. It's totally solid at the other end so I'll go and invest in a blowtorch.

Rear tie rods needed
I know this is a repeat of the post in items wanted, sorry Lauren, but I desperately need a pair of rear tie rods/track rods or whatever their proper name is for my 1985 mk1a. In good working order i.e. adjuster tubes not seized up solid like mine. Looking for the complete assembly if possible with ...

Re: Thermostat location
Its kind of difficult to describe in words but if you look in the engine bay in the gap between the left hand end of the cylinder head and the battery you will see a few hoses all converging low down on top of the gearbox I think. You might be able to see what looks like a white plastic wing nut sti...

Re: tools required to change MK1 rear discs
Don't be surprised if the calipers don't pivot up on the top mounting very easily, mine were almost siezed and took a lot of persuasion to get moving. Also if they are stiff, don't be tempted to use a hammer either. The bottom mounting is very easy to deform with heavy blows from a hammer and then i...

Re: CAN I USE FIESTA ARCHES ON MY MK1?
I've just had the rear arches replaced on mine, I bought panels from http://www.toyota-heaven.de/1106100.htm theres a link to them on the club web site. I got both sides including the postage from Germany for about £50.00, compare that to the price of one repair panel from Eurosport. As it states on...

Thanks Crazylegs
I'll try bleeding the coolant system, not too confident to tinker with the timing myself but got a friend that can help me with that.
Cheers

Low rev popping
I'm hoping someone can give me a few pointers with tickover/low rev rough running. My car is a bog standard 85 mk1a with 68k on the clock. At just over 1000 revs the engine seems to miss the occasional beat and "pops" slightly but is running fine above this level. When its fully warmed up ...
