Re: Downtime this afternoon

OK, an update - accounts that are, or have been premium members can be restored fairly quickly as the information needed for the restoration is in a number of different places. If your account has not been a premium member, at the moment there's no easy way to reliably identify your old account and ...

Re: thinking of buying a mk3 any pointers always been a mk2 owner

Some good pointers so far - the only thing I'd add is that if you liked the car today, it would be worth checking the pre-cat's condition - pull the o2 sensors ( you'll need an O2 sensor socket to do this ) and check the top of the Cat Matrix is intact. Well, they ended up going to look at it witho...

Re: Downtime this afternoon

OK, looks like the server still isn't 100%.

It was down for the last 30 minutes with the same issue as before.

The forum is back, but will be looking at the issues and may need to take IMOC offline for a few hours shortly, and again tomorrow to run some more checks across the disks.

Downtime this afternoon

Folks,

Server crashed this afternoon taking the site database with it around 3pm. Have been working with the Hosting providers to get the server back up and sort the databases - now all done.

Any issues, let me know.

Re: Is the Mk3 underpowered?

Having owned and tracked all three, I'd agree that the Mk3 is the best handling. If you've coming from a Mk2 Turbo and enjoy the torque, look at a Turbo conversion. I've had a PE turbo kit on mine @ 10psi and 220-230bhp for nearly 7 years now with a standard '03 engine block, 6 speed box and brakes ...

Re: How fast could...

ON your original post - it depends on how track focussed and / or road useable you want it to be. I've had a ride in Toni's racecar Mk3 and that was impressive - what I've got is more standard roadcar ( sleeper style ) that you can enjoy at a trackday by bolting on some sacrifical rubber. I have to ...

Re: Front brake refresh ... glazed inner disk surface ?

Just thought I'd update on this thread - it looks like its quite a common issue on Roadsters. Last April, I noted the inner surfaces were glazing up again on new disks and pads, and the sliding pins had seized up. As a temporary workaroud ( pending some parts arriving ) I found I could sandpaper the...

Re: Mk3 and tall people

I'm 6ft 2 and fit in OK, no problems with headroom but also have the seat at the back of the runners and fully reclined - the driving position isn't compromised. No problem with headroom on the soft-top, and with the hard-top there's room for me to wear a helmit without having to worry about bumping...

Winter and All Season tyres for the Roadster

Just a quick write up on my first impressions of using Vredstein Quatrac 3 All Season tyres on my 03 Roadster, using early 15" rims. For the last few years, I've been using the Lotus Advan Neova AD06's on my Roadster, and have been generally very happy with the wet and dry handling. I did note ...

Re: Front brake refresh ... glazed inner disk surface ?

Yep, if not then the only other greases are white lithium grease or CV joint grease - I'll give the spray on white lithium grease a go, as primarily its just needed to keep water out rather than do any heavy / high load lubrication.

Re: Front brake refresh ... glazed inner disk surface ?

Just to update, I suspect the issue is that the calliper's sliding pins were not working, causing the inner pad to do more work. The replacement pads and disks I fitted back in October I've swapped in March as they were also showing some scoring again. I re-assembled them using Red Rubber brake grea...

Re: How rare are the tintops?

FWIW, a JDM Auto is quite good for an automatic - I got some tidy and quick passenger laps around the Nurburgring from a IMOC member who knew their way around there well. Its worth noting the JDM Auto gets the 3S-GE engine rather than the 3S-FE engine that was fitted to the UK cars , and it works we...

Re: Power Curve looks like a pair of boobs

That looks to be happening at peak torque. Apart from the fueling being very rich there - possibly marginal HT / Sparks? A long time back I did back to back Dyno runs with old and then new spark plugs and was really surprised to see a reasonable gain (10 bhp) - car felt fine though with the old HT s...
