Overboost problem
If the actuator is faulty would it not underboost?

Would this not also be ruled out as the car does not over boost with the pipe from the map sensor blocked?

Sorry for all the questions but I need to decide if it is worth buying the car and get back to the owner with my answer.

Overboost problem
Thanks, this will all come in very useful. When you say a leak down test to you mean an engine compression test? Check it is the right compression and if the head gasket is ok? What figures should the compression test give? I did remove the cat pipe on my last mr2 turbo. I beleive the car to have a ...

Overboost problem
Would it be a easy/cheap fix? I am a bit handy with a spanner.

It does have a manual boost controller if it makes any difference?

Overboost problem
He told me he blocked this pipe because the fuel cut defence was coming in. he also informed the boost was going over 1 bar before he did this which he could see on the aftermarket boost gauge. since he has blocked this pipe it no longer goes over 1 bar. Does this sound right, or is the person eithe...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Overboost problem
I am looking to buy a rev 2 turbo.

My concern is that it used to overboost,
(currenlty running 1 bar).
This problem has been resolved by removing the pipe from the map sensor and blocking it.

Should I be concerned about this? Is it a standard fix or is it a car I should avoid?

[Mk2] [Turbo] Buying tips for rev 2 turbo
It has been over a year since I sold my last mr2 and am now considering buying another.

What would I need to check when inspecting the vehicle?

The one I am looking at is a j reg rev 2 turbo gt-s hardtop.

What is the mechanical condition of this vehicle? Have you got a new mot on it? If not what work would be needed to get one? What is the mileage?

Since deciding the decat was the likely cause of the mister over boosting I replaced the decat pipe with the gutted cat that was fitted before which I had no over boosting problem with. Even though i have replaced this the car is still over boosting, going upto 1.2 bar. and i now have two gauges in ...

Re: What have I done now?
Would it be a good idea to grind it down? wouldn't that make it weak?

So is my only answer to either replace the decat which i got on ebay
(unknown make) with a better one e.g from rogue systems or to just put back on the cat again or is there another way around this?

Would it also be a good idea if i get a fcd which I could set around 1.1bar?

Ever since i fitted a decat pipe my car has been over boosting, upto around 1.2bar and it used to hit 0.8bar. Having not got it fixed yet i thought i should just take it easy. That is until earlier when i got bored stuck behind and O.A.P and decided to floor it and drive round. As i past the car sto...

I put my foot down in third gear on the way home.
i have a greddy peak boost gauge with the warning light set at 1 bar i floored it and lifted off then the light came on.
boost peak showed 1.2bar.
that can't be safe and if i didn't lift off the accelerator i think it would boost more

er.
.
.
there isn't one fitted there.
Is it possibly fit somewhere else or perhaps the boost has been changed in another way?
