well, one thing you can say paternity leave is good for is car restoration.
Various boring body work jobs underway but very excited to see the screen fitted today... really makes it feel like a proper car to have a screen in it!!!

Re: Cambelt snapped
  definitly a sad sight but as Paul says, need to get it opened up and have a look, there will be some indication about what went wrong. Take pictures before you move anything, get the position of the tensioner and pictures of the assemblies etc etc... you can always come back to them ...

Re: Cambelt snapped
I had a sneaky feeling you had a solid pulley, same here. Hopefully it wasn't that.
Although thinking about it if the dampener is there to protect the crank and ultimately reduce vibration i wonder if a certain resonance would casuse the pulley to throw the belt a bit.

Re: Cambelt snapped
obviously could be the belt but its unlikely. I agree with the close inspection to find the root cause... i wonder if something else failed first. Bottom pulley rubber or the Tensioner? Interference or non interference i think you are going to want to try to understand war happened... or it could ju...

Re: windscreen - DIY fitting
I know what you mean but if in the course of restoring the car i have been prepared to "make" coil over suspension, refurb all of my callipers including every seal, weld up structural chassis areas and build custom bracketery to hold in aftermarket bumpers etc i would have thought that far...

windscreen - DIY fitting
Has anyone done this themselves?
Mine smashed when it came out (5 years ago) found a reasonable priced new one so i was thinking about doing it myself.
Saving is not huge though so it depends how tricky it is really.

Re: MRK1b almost back on the road
I once met an ex Toyota Quality Assurance engineer who was a junior guy on the Mk1 development. He told me they benchmarked the body panels on the Delorean! Maybe they did forget the paint?

I think you have a filter set that whenever any post mentions those springs it warns you.
Your doing an amazing public service warning everyone!

Oops... So it has.
Anywhere between 700 and 3k... And it looks like Scotland is the most economical place to have it done!
Well that's what I read anyway!

respray costs?
i know the cost will be dependent on many things but can anyone give me a ball park figure for a a mk1 with a sold base colour (e.g not metalic with a laqour) it will need some prep but nothing serious, more flattening back, then primer then top coat. No strip down or rebuild. Any insights would be ...
