Re: turbo not spinning
Anddddd slight lateral play is fine, it's longitudinal play that is more concerning IMO and indicates wear to thrust bearing bud
so might be worth giving the comp a little tug before you drop it off if you were to check.
.
But once again I'd be surprised!

Re: Running no Bov
regarding this steel shaft business, afaik, the only steel shafted stock turbo is found on the rare WRC gt4s, no other mr2 or celica had a steel shafted turbo.... Ahh this would make sense, my wrc had the lines into the mani for anti lag.. which app. could be set up?!! but the pipes were blocked.. ...

Re: Running no Bov
FWIW I have just had my turbo (CT20b) rebuilt with a steel shaft, steel exhaust wheel, new seals and bearings and balanced for under £350. I don't know what Celica turbos go for but I doubt there are many 17yr old turbo units around that are guaranteed not to have blown seals. so technically simila...

Re: turbo not spinning
this isnt un normal / common from my experience i think its down to the fact that the engine is not "flowing" enough exhaust gas on idle to get it going. i had a td05 on a starlet back in the day and that sat still on idle. revved it, off it went, then slowed and stopped after it had retur...

Re: engine temp low???
Check your system hasn't any airlocks around the heater matrix first. Also check your coolant system is full and not leaking and also that the water pump is pumping surely if it has an air lock or the pump has failed youll find it'l be over heating ridiculously, coolant temp wise, which indirectly ...

LoL as an ex '205 owner I'm pretty sure the power levels are the same (I always thought I saw more write-ups on big power '205's than SW20's) -but you end up spending so much money on silly maintenence items on the '205 that that seems to be where the money goes. hmmm im ex st205 to.. i tend to agr...

never ever ran a bov, love the sound of stall and hate the sound of tshhhhhhh lol.

never once had an issue.

and correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression it was only the uk gt4's that ran steel turbine, thought imports were still ceremaic.
.

just like the supra's.
