Re: ignition advance

i run at 14 degrees. (1991 n/a 3sge) when i had it at 10 it would pink at wide open throttle, but only a little bit. at 14 degrees it is exactly the same (pinking only at WOT) but throttle response is better. i run 95 RON fuel and tried 98/99 - not any better so im sticking to the cheaper stuff. had...

try chiselling / hacksaw the head of the stuck not off then when the space is off you *should* be able to remove the threaded part with some mole grips :)

flat blade screwdriver? it does seem like you need something thin and "wedge like" to hammer between the siezed parts, similar to cracking off a stuck on oil filter if you see what i mean.

massive analogue calibrating device? (hammer)

when i changed my fronts they just popped off with a little tap!

perhaps rather than using a spanner, try a chisel to try and crack the seal by hammering it in as far as you can?

Re: vaccum

it appears to be the ACIS VSV. only way i know of to have it working properly is to that when the VSV is "on" (eg engine rpm < 5000) the screw needs to be adjusted so that the butterflys inside the ACIS cover are *just* closed. adjusting it any other way appears to have no effect, as i hav...

Re: Mk 2 Rev 3 light problems

if the bulbs / fuses / relay / stalk are all ok, it almost 100% has to be a wiring fault.

cant help any more though since i dont know the wiring for them.

perhaps checking with a multimeter that 12v is getting to the bulb plug on both filament terminals?

awful first cold start, all other starts perfect!

Hi everyone, (and hello as well!) got a niggling issue which has been annoying me for a few weeks now and i would like some ideas! Every day, the 1st cold start, the starter cranks the engine, and it splutters into life but with really low revs (400 ish) for about 2 seconds then bursts into normal &...
