A ground connection might have been damaged whilst at the body shop. You could try wiring in a new ground lead. My head unit wouldn't turn on until I did this.

That's what I ended up doing in the end as well. Now the head unit is on all the time, even without the keys in the ignition, but I can live with that!

I don't know if it's the same as a rev 2, I suppose it is if all the wires are the same colour. I got a constant whining noise from mine when then engine was on so I just connected random loose wires together until the noise stopped.
