Yep as bob says, broken ringland. Compression tests don't always show them. A leak down test is better.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] What's people's thoughts on wrapping hot and cold intercooler pipes?

ive just fitted a PTP turbo blanket on mine. excellent quality and was only £120 shipped from the states.
definatly worth having though as it does cut down on heat in the engine bay

Re: Need bottom end gasket set

just use a good quality RTV sealant. make sure both faces are clean and free from old sealant, a wire wheel in a drill is good for this just make sure you flush all the bits away. put a 4mm bead all round the sump in the centre of the flange and going on the inside edge of the bolt holes. done corre...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] re-fitting rev3 gearbox, after fitting twin plate clutch.. having issues :/

it sounds like misaligned splines between the two plates, best to use a splined alignment tool or old input shaft to align them. a normal alignment tool wont work on twin plates.
depending where you are i have an input shaft here you can borrow but its very heavy so would be best collected

Re: Mr2 turbo engine stalling when clutch is pressed

yep id agree on crankwalk.if you have a rev 2 then it may well be quicker to remove the sump to inspect the thrust bearings, although with how bad you describe it then i think that there will be obvious damage without removing the thrust bearings themselves. when you drain the oil if there is a lot ...

Re: Help needed. One cylinder is not working on idle

What boost are you running? I cracked ringland can give an off beat sound to the idle :( not saying it is that but just to be aware. A lot of oil must from the breather is another indicator.

you can even use the gear box with a couple of mods (diff swapped over, transfer box removed and mr2 blank plate fitted and the selector swapped over)

Re: Dawesy's 2, finally an update. :)

managed to get the engine lid sorted, now this wasn't as easy as i thought. the holes for the rain tray securing screws in the engine lid were shot and it was impossible to tighten them. now I'm not sure if this is a common problem with tubby engine lids but I've managed a successful fix. first off ...

i run this peter and have not had any problems during winter (car lives outside :( ) however it is vitally important that all traces of water are removed from the system before using (evans do a prep fluid for this) it does stink though if spilled on the engine and doesnt evaporate making leaks easi...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Oil pressure light after oil change

depends what grade was in there before, if it had a thicker grade then that would have kept the light out, at 110K id say some new shells and an oil pump are in order before it gets too bad an wrecks the crank

Re: The journey of one man and his Mule(s)

defo worth making the end plates to channel the air, the stock bumper and indeed most modern cars have that very type of thing. as for the side pods is there no way to make ducts to direct the air to the front brakes? or even round to the rad?
