Mine has started doing this but only when warm.
I did have a boost leak which didn't help.
But my engine is in a lexus is200 and where the radiator is filled is right over the dizzy cap
could water of got in and caused a fault???
I've just rebuilt the top end of my rev3 turbo engine (headgasket failure) and have been using it sensibly :( I've now serviced it again and I am using it slightly more agressively :) however once the car is warm it seems to misfire in low revs in 1st and 2nd and when boosting you can hear the air l...
FWIW??? i bet i didnt leave it long enough then. i applied it to both surfaces left it for about 5-10 mins then applied. it wasnt a particulally hot day. and its stayed sealed for about 2 weeks. its only this week its started and thats if it is the sump gasket??? i am only saying this as i didnt tak...
whats the best to use to seal the sump???
i resealed mine but its dripping still.
i used halfords instant gasket.
is there a gasket available???
i know there is 2 or 3 bolts out but none are near each other so i thought it'd be ok.
is there any pressure in the sump???
your right its very iffy getting on that site :( i'll try find a manual for it on outlawjap. as for temp it seems to get to around 77-80degrees very quickly but then stabalize at around that. so i think the radiator system must be ok??? its just the gurgling inside the car that concerns me as like i...
i dont know tbh mate i will try find that out. it certainly doesnt seem to be losing or using water. but the gurggling noise is making me paranoid as thats the noise it made running upto the HG going. i dont understand it either tbh john and like i say run the car for 2 mins and its red hot air comi...
well after sitting around for nearly a month this looks to be now fixed :D it has 1 or 2 issues tho that i still seem to be struggling with. i believe i have air in the system which i am trying to cure. when i start the car from cold there is a gurggling type noise as if something is filling with wa...
can anybody confirm the settings please for the cylinder head??
just doing mine unfortunately
i have been told that the torque settings are
stage 1 25NM
stage 2 49NM
then 90degree turn
not doubting ppl just trying to confirm things
its a bit late for that as its all in pieces lol
decided that i may as well go the whole hog and make sure everything is all good
hopefully by the weekend i will have a few more answers
Ok so I've started to tackle this today. Couldn't get the head in cos they was closed. But I started on the removal of pistons. But I've got stuck. I can't get the bottom end off. But when I emptied the sump there was hardly any water in there and when I checked in the sump there is no metal pieces ...
Cheers Bob.
Your right my head is spinning with several thoughts etc.
I will take the head to the engineers 2morro hopefully and get the pistons out Saturday.
Hopefully it won't be that bad.
But will definately know more by the weekend
I have got some good Rev 2 blocks here, may just need a hone and refit your pistons, but do not think the worst, it may just be a damaged piston in number 1 or nothing at all. You will need a new head gasket and head studs, not bolts, thats going to be £250 or so and that may be all you will need t...
There's every chance it's a split block....And yes it'll just get more expensive. :( A second hand good long block might be the way forward, or sell the car to me as it is, and I'll build a forged one with sleaves for it  so worse case scenario I need a new block. How much will that cost m...
If you do not check the pistons and there is a problem you will only find it when you run the engine again, then it all has to come apart again. There is no cost in taking the pistons out and checking them apart from getting a piston ring compressor to help you to put them back in the bores. You mu...
Bob that's very nice of you thank you. Not sure where your located but I am in croydon. So to check the pistons is easy then??? Always thought it was hard. What's the chances of block damage??? Am I just creating more work an expense??? You say the stat shuts off to create a by pass??? So this inlin...
It might be warped to hell matey, until it's pressure checked and flat edge checked, I'd presume thermal expansion has cause the bolts to stretch. The last car I saw like that, the middle 4 bolts I could take out with my fingers! The outer set were still as tight as when it was built. That was caus...
That's very true toxo. I'll deal with thermostat at a later date if I keep the car. Just another point regarding cylinders filled with water. The bolt holes are also filled with water. Obviously when the bolts are in place they can't fill up. So does this conclude that the water is from when I parte...
Well that's more of an understanding than the original owner told me!!!
No welded pipes was ever mentioned.
So with this in mind if I got a new housing and thermostat would it cure this problem???
Would certainly look better than having that inline thermostat
