Re: Stubborn Ball joint seperation

I had this issue, soaking with WD40 and Halfords releasing agent several times, allowing to soak for several hours and repeating then popped straight out with a splitter. I spent several hours previously trying to get the b'stard out!

Re: Track day crash

Unlucky hitting the gravel. Nice smooth driving though. Could do with a softer back end, squirrelling around all over the place when you're exiting the corners.

Re: GT86

TBH I'm genuinely surprised by how much positive press this car has been getting... I'll sum up my opinions: Steering lazy on centre, do not feel connected. Good off centre. Lot of friction feel which helps oversteer control but normal driving the friction is too much. Grip level is poor and transit...

Re: Nurburgring Laps

Interested to hear about the Marshal issue - we had issues too which is why we ended up hand held. Might save up and try to source a go pro at some point though, as your footage was impressive for the quality as much as for the good driving. :) Interesting story about that... The link below is for ...

Re: Nurburgring - Rev3 Turbo

I went last summer, fantastic place. In terms of videoing it, practice with a suction cup if you have some way to mount your camera to one. Below I'm using a gopro 2 motorsport. Comes with a suction cup and a bit of practice and you can stick the camera on and pull it off quickly so the marshals don...

Re: Mk 2 lowering springs, talk to me......

If the lowering springs have more coils than your standard springs - AVOID. They'll be very soft and just crash straight into the bump stop.

Re: More Fuel You (N/A Rev 5)

From my experience...

Shell > Tesco > BP > Local garages/other supermarkets

I am, tbh, genuinely happy to use Tesco 98 ron fuel, find the MR2 (NA) loves it!

Nope, but had a giggle at "...with TOYO PROXES T1R high performance tyres."

Re: Wheel/Tyre size selection for trackdays?

Search tyres...

My advice stick to stock sizes which are:

195/55/R15
225/50/R15

Get decent/good tyres.

In my opinion, feel free to go for 195/50/R15 tyres, they're cheaper.

Re: Nurburgring Laps

Thanks!

The video of that Mk3 shows the difference semi cut slick tyres make! Lines are pretty poor but the speed he's carrying through the corner is huge!

The rear end of my 2 is fairly well rotten, doubt it'll be on the road by the next MOT :(

Re: Suspension Damper Advice

Not really sure what you're after here? With such a low ride height you are barely using your dampers. I think you'll find that the reason the ride is so crashy is because you have about 15mm of travel before the bumpstop and as soon as you hit anything on the road you go straight into the bumpstop....

Re: Identifying springs? Are you knowledgable enough?!

Different tensile strength steel? Different diameter spring?

Easiest thing to do is when removed from the struts, lean on them and see which one is softer!

Re: Identifying springs? Are you knowledgable enough?!

I would say the ride was significantly harder than stock, felt a bit like touring car when I had them on but I guess tired shocks could have been contributing to that? From personal experience (getting a set of struts that had "stiffer than the MR2 championship" springs...) it was likely ...

Re: Identifying springs? Are you knowledgable enough?!

The Op's springs (only looked at front) have 5 coils, the Tein's have 4, others have 6. What do standard springs look like? Apex springs look like a generic pic, not a product specific to the MR2.
