Re: Cryo cooling

Lol, I'm an idiot you're dead right. I'd like to see it done on a petrol turbo too.

Re: Cryo cooling

The more I think about it , the whole cryo idea is not worth it unless you are doing short runs drag racing or hill sprints maybe. I don't think a bottle is going to last long so in effect water/meth would probably be better at giving you more power ( I'm not going to start another cooling debate on...

Re: Cryo cooling

Good point I wasn't thinking along those lines, I was thinking aircon normally costs you one or 2 hp but you might gain more not from the efficiency of the cooler but lower temps would allow higher boost, fuel etc but if it was that simple someone would have already done it. Although I agree with wh...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] my favourite modification.

I hope you didn't think I was having a pop at you gerbil? Going off on a tangent slightly I remember reading about Katie Price getting abuse for parking in a disabled spot. She was with her son Harvey at the time who is blind and more than entitled to use it. A lot of the time it is misguided but wi...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] my favourite modification.

I will say in Pete's defence it was 8 o'clock and most people aren't out with their kids shopping at this time. So I can see why he might do it but I wouldn't and if someone nicked a space as I was arriving with my kids I'd probably give them a mouthful. I'm quite surprised someone who is customer f...

Re: Cryo cooling

I've often thought that steam in the engine is occupying the space needed for air. I think a decent intercooler/chargecooler has more benefit. I don't have the air con in my car anymore so I can't even look but could you modify the aircon to run coolant pipes past the i/c. Or would the heat exchange...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] my favourite modification.

It may not be law but it's social etiquette. You rebels  :D

I think an mr2 would look more out of place in a child/parent spot than a disabled one especially if it had a booster seat.

I should man up, I never park in one without the kids even if I've got the seats fitted and it's late.

Re: Cryo cooling

7.9hp improvement but at what cost I wonder? If its expensive, possibly better chasing ponies else where? I can see where you're coming from but if you are running high boost etc then bringing the inlet temps down would be worth it. DEI stuff isn't cheap, I'm sure there would be other companies tha...

Re: What brand heat wrap for exhaust and manifold should i use?

For me it would be because I don't need to take anything off to coat it in silicone spray first and from what I have read the tape gives more protection than the ceramic coating. The downside of the tape would be it getting oil contaminated if you developed a small leak.

Cryo cooling

I stumbled across it while I was looking at something else, has anyone tried it on an MR2? If so what kind of increase do you get? Is it practical ( length of time it lasts, cost &so on).

Could you spray it with high temp silicone coating first to prevent this?

Re: What brand heat wrap for exhaust and manifold should i use?

I'd go with DEI heat wrap, I've been thinking of getting some, should of got it with my DEI turbo blanket when I had the chance.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Clutch for 400-500bhp

Fair enough Sheppy, pistons and turbo's everyone knows the rough cost and if they do what is says on the tin but like you I know nothing about clutches, including price and what they are good for torque wise.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Clutch for 400-500bhp

I thought you where all over it with the clutch Sheppy? Prior to you starting your build I mentioned clutches and you didn't seem that bothered. If I'm honest (which I am now I've had a beer). Your asking questions about certain things but going against the grain on things. I can't believe you've no...

Re: Locked calibration on EMS JDModified aka 3s service

Like I said to you when it's mapped properly and the lama sensor is connected it will a not be running too rich and b making more than a stock rev2 engine. Then when I post the two dynos we will see. The point is nobody really locks there calibrations. You never used to its not like you did a lot as...

Locked calibration on EMS JDModified aka 3s service

I will cut a long story short but I went to get my car remapped as the current make was tonk. To my surprise it was locked out. When I asked for the password or an unlocked version of the call I was told sorry and if your current mapper is any good he'll use the online Help. To be honest the map is ...
