Re: crx chargecoolers
Thanks for the input guys I think I'll talk to the guy building my engine and see what it will cost to get it done at the same time. I can always sell the Spearco if I decide to go ahead with it that will offset it a little bit. http://cxracing.eu/ .For anyone considering one they also trade on ebay...

Re: crx chargecoolers
Cheers Peter ,
I'm back to where I started on a decision but that's not a bad thing. I'll stick with the original plan and take it from there.
Once again thanks, I needed a sanity check.
Regards
Jim

Re: crx chargecoolers
Thanks Peter, That was my hunch but somewhere down the line I thought they might have a decent rep,sponsorship/marketing works I saw a pic of a race car with their logo and thought maybe they'll be okay. I'm never going to build a super car over night so I'll just keep to the plan and try not to get...

crx chargecoolers
http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CXR&Category_Code=AWIC Anyone got one? Are they any good? It seems as though someone is selling them on ebay as crx eu. I am really tempted to get a charge cooler fitted as I get my forged rebuild. I have a spearco that I bought...

Re: Intermittent starting problem
Give your battery connections a check over as I had a similar situation on my wife's car. It may well be something else but worth checking. She had an intermittent starting fault too. Just remember to use an insulated spanner or disconnect the earth whilst you check the live, I've seen a spanner cut...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Greddy Trust Intercooler
What is your current setup and what mods are you planning. Before you get close to 400Bhp you are going to need forged pistons, bigger turbo and injectors. The intercooler/chargecooler is an important part and is what stopped me going past 280bhp last time I had my car on a dyno(ebay smic). Me perso...

Re: My dyno results - what's holding the car back?
I couldn't see a link ecu on their site but they might be worth a call are eurospec2000 in Guildford. I had mine mapped there a few years back and Romain managed to get me a few extra hp after a so called MR2 specialist had mapped mine and it was less than stock. My car was being held back by someth...

Re: Estimated power projection?
Couldn't you just return the Pistons and get some Wössner ones?
I suppose if your halfway through the build you want to crack on, I am guessing you already have the head stripped down.
Anyway whatever you decide/ do good luck with the build.

Re: Estimated power projection?
I'm going for Wössner pistons on my engine rebuild, they are available in 86, 86.25, 86.5 and 87 comp ratio 8:1 and are around 500 quid not sure if that is inclusive of vat but I think so. I'm sure Bob listed some 8:1 comp pistons on one of the threads started by Sheppy prior to him starting his bui...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Modified Greddy i/c come charge cooler eBay.
That looks well made Rob, definitely better than that one I posted up earlier. It would be nice to know how effective that would be in the standard side mount position. The person selling on that on ebay banned from this site so steer clear, those who are tempted to buy it (which is why mods removed...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Modified Greddy i/c come charge cooler eBay.
Thinking about it if, if it really worked well you would have some data to back it up. I might ask him what inlet temps he was getting on this set up and what mods and power he was getting from it. I thought it might have been a good idea as the air flow and the water would help keep heatsoak down b...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Modified Greddy i/c come charge cooler eBay.
Hi guys I saw this on ebay and wondered what people think. Is it good bad or indifferent?
I've not seen or heard of anyone else using one.
I'm not trying to buy it but would consider something similar if and when the need arises.

Re: Forged Engine rebuild
I've read a bit further on the DW thread and mapping doesn't sound like their strong point at least they started out on Toyota's so hopefully mechanically they are okay and I'll take it to the place I used before. Having had one map rented to me by JD Modified I don't want to go down that road again...

Re: Forged Engine rebuild
Thanks guys I have seen some of these threads myself and I have been down there prior to getting them to do the work. If they are as bad as some of these posts suggest then why are the always so busy? For me the evidence for out weighs that against at least I know these guys won't lock my calibratio...

Re: Forged Engine rebuild
Yeah that's what I like about it, even if I had all of the tools to do the job myself I'd not have a clue where to get all the machine work done etc. I only moved up here to Runcorn a year or so ago and I'm still getting the lay of the land a bit. It also depends on how much spare time you have I su...

Re: Forged Engine rebuild
I hear you on the ball ache, I haven't looked at your build thread for a bit but I have been following it and admire anyone who is willing to give it a go even though they know it's going to be hard due to work space etc. Total respect to you for that.
