Re: Caliper and slider refurb help please

As above with the dremel. If your sliders are pitted/corroded then I'd replace them. Pleanty of options such as: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-MR2-SW20-1991-2000-2x-FRONT-BRAKE-CALIPER-SLIDER-PIN-KITS-BCF1341AX2-/231666585268?fits=Model%3AMR+2&hash=item35f0678eb4:g:yyUAAOSwPc9WvIWJ BiggRed ar...

Re: OSF KNOCK! Doing my nut in!

Sounds like it could be a bush. Have you checked the suspension mounting brackets. They are a known weak area on early cars. E.g: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=101626

Re: Excessive brake pedal travel HELP PLEASE

Useful tool to have regardless. Make sure the caliper banjo bolts are torqued to around 30Nm. Surprising how often tightening them by guess work often isn't sufficient for a perfect seal.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] MP3 Stereo

Nothing will be plug & play due to the Toyota non-standard wiring. You just need a wiring adapter. The type will depend on whether you still have stock unmolested wiring behind your head unit. Thats when the fun begins  Have a look at the wiring and maybe post up a picture. We can then tell...

Re: Excessive brake pedal travel HELP PLEASE

As Gareth says. Mine is as Mityvac but I'm sure an eBay one would be fine. I try and pull a vacuum on each bleed nipple (when they are closed). If it doesn't hold vacuum then it's somewhere to start looking. Sometimes the seal isn't great due to the age of these calipers. The ptfe tape and new bleed...

Re: Excessive brake pedal travel HELP PLEASE

No need to wind back 180 degrees. Just a little bit to line up the notch will do. You don't connect handbrake cables at all? I'd recommend vacuuming the system. Several times we've had issues and it's often due to tiny air leaks on the bleed nipples. Not enough to see fluid easily/immediately but en...

Re: Excessive brake pedal travel HELP PLEASE

Hi Scott, Things to check in this order : condition of front caliper pistons, vacuum test for leaks (many brake problems are caused by tiny leaks), pedal height. When refitting the rears I assume you bled them first, then pumped out the pistons to set them up, before re-connecting handbrake cables. ...

Re: Rev1 vs rev3 suspension

If you want to take some pictures of your set up and post them up we can possibly tell you what you have. You won't be able to tell visually very easily if you have Rev1 struts. Rev1 springs will make your car look like a 4X4 . Earlier front top mounts are offset but I'm not sure you can still ...

Re: Laser Alignment

If your car still handles badly after the alignment I would suspect worn suspension components, especially struts, and maybe springs, ball joints, & bushes. Suspension often gets neglected due to the cost of replacing these things. No alignment will help if the suspension is old and tired. Rev 1...

Re: Laser Alignment

Wise move getting it done on the machine. I can do my own toe settings pretty accurately with my laser gauge and string but camber is a problem as my garage and drive have a slight slope. On stock suspension, even with 30mm or so lowering, camber bolts are unlikely to be necessary to get the camber ...

Re: Laser Alignment

If you want to do this properly you need a level surface and a camber gauge. Could always pay the alignment place to do it. Otherwise you will just be using best guess and it all depends on how clean and straight your suspension components and car are. To do the adjustment just jack your car up, put...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Quite a bit of travel on brake pedal

When you changed the pads, and after initial bleeding, did you ensure that the pistons were pumped out fully to make the pads meet the discs. If the calipers are less than 100% this can take some serious pumping. You should also do this before attaching the handbrake cables. As Gareth says above mak...

Re: Laser Alignment

Looks a lot better and now within tolerance. Your camber differs as there is a small amount of adjustment on stock struts - up to about 1 degree. You can tell this by loosening the 19mm nuts and rocking the hub in/out. However if you now try and adjust this you will need the toe setting up again. I'...

Re: Tyre choices?

Uniroyal Rainsport 3s are awesome tyres. Much better if a full set but very difficult with 15" wheels. My car feels plenty firm enough with 50 profile and lowering springs. Best tyres I've used for the money.

I reckon you need a full set with nice Enkei RP01 16" wheels
