Re: Whiteline Anti Roll Bars

Just a techy point to note, if you lower the car you want longer links, not shorter ones to keep the angle of the ARB the same as it was before the lowering. Paul, can you elaborate? If you picture the front of an mr2 with standard suspension, as viewed from the side the arb would be parallel to th...

I'd contest that. Green stuff pads are utter rubbish even on the road. Yellows on the other hand are the stuff of miracles. :D

They came to my work and replaced the whole windscreen for £169. The bloke was brilliant. Arrived on time and had it done in no time at all. I would highly recommend them.

Understood but its already effectively sheeted over. Thanks for the part numbers. I'll start poking around.

Re: Mk1 Supercharged Roof

Surely in a race car you've got the seats mounted lower so headroom isn't an issue. On my track car I've still got the interior bracing around the sunroof hole ( which has a sheet of 1mm aluminium sheet pop-rivetted over it ) and headroom isn't a problem at all, even with a helmet on I can sit in i...

Re: Mk1 Supercharged Roof

As kevin rightly says i would think twice before removing the roof on a sunroof model car, they really are providing a lot of structural integrity. If i was wanting to convert to a tin top i would just panel over and blend out the sunroof instead and just buy the tintop headlining. I should have po...

Re: Mk1 Supercharged Roof

I didn't realise the non superchargers came with tin tops. Cool. I wouldn't be attempting this myself. The panel beaters would be doing the work. That's a bit too involved for my single car garage :)

Mk1 Supercharged Roof

Random question but would the mk1 supercharger roof panel fit a standard mk1? And if so, would anyone know where to get such a thing/what it would cost as a part? I realise it would have to be painted and fitted but I'd be keen to know if anyone had a contact would could sell me the bits? I'm going ...

My mechanic asked me not to come around and see the progress because he'll be swearing a lot. At me and the car. And everything else. The answer appears to be yes, it's a xxxxxx of a job.

Re: damper confusion

Having just bought a complete set of KYB shocks, fensport springs, all polybushes, new bal joints and drop links for my race car, the fact that they're hard and barely move is good news for me :)

Can't wait for it to be finished this week.

Re: Clutch Question

I've recently had a clutch replaced and clutch line bled through with new fluid as well. The bite point is quite high which is a little surprising but liveable. Then the other day I started noticing slipping at about 4-5k rpm. I find it hard to accept that the clutch has packed it in after less than...

Re: Insurance trouble

I'm curious about the race licence affecting insurance now. I was going to ring my insurer to tell them I had it and try to weasel a discount. And then my thought processes went: Insurance company, male, racing, ££££££ and I stopped thinking about it. Has anyone got any experience of their normal in...

Re: Breakdown Cover

A few track days ago a guy in a brand new BMW M5 locked his keys in the boot and the AA man happily drove right into pit lane to pop it open and get them out. I don't imagine they can reasonably refuse you if you break down. Pit lane is no different to breaking down in your mates driveway and needin...

Re: Anyone want to become a Racing Driver?

Yup. They can watch from the hospitality/briefing room or if they want to brave the elements they can climb the stairs to the top of the grassy hill to watch from above. I don't think they're allowed in the pit area unless they're signed in and have had a safety briefing.

If anyone wants to get to know the layout of the Bedford GT Circuit you can get a morning or afternoon session on the cheap this Sat:

I'm bringing the mk1 along for a giggle in the afternoon session.

Heheheh - New brakes!

Picked up the beast today. Remanufactured calipers, new discs, yellow stuff pads, stainless steel hoses and 5.1 fluid. I'd forgotten how nice being able to stop was.

Sorry, just had to share :)
