Re: engine rebuild - pre start up query

Qs 3&4 on the manifold boob with 3 teets () 1 goes to the map sensor, one goes to the fuel pressure regulator (It varies the fuel pressure with the manifold pressure, ya see, to keep the pressure difference constant) and one is blanked off. i will probably hold the RPM high for 10 mins nooo...

cool cool 8)

What´s left on the MOT list then chris? At the weekend I picked up a magazine with an article about the new MOT regs. It said that there was an amnesty until the first of April, until then you only get an advisory that it will fail next time :!:

Re: 4AGE fun and games

I'm not sure those cams are much use to anyone, too little lift for big power and too much duration for sensible running. If you're building an engine to exploit that much duration then a little machining to allow 10-11mm lift would be a no brainer. Maybe I'm wrong. No, you are right! TODA also did...

Re: 4AGE budget cam install and tuning

Also... It's definitely worth addressing the overfuelling. A few years ago I had my stock mk1b remapped by Rich Benton at Powerstation Tewkesbury and he removed the stock overfuelling whilst remapping the fuelling and it does help hold onto power past the peak. My car delivered a fatter torque curve...

Re: 4AGE budget cam install and tuning

Lauren - my dyno on page 2 goes to 8000

tottacrolla, Lauren - did you notice any drivability changes with your modified ECUs?

so, looking at Lauren's dynos, it looks like they they add fuel (and possibly back off ignition advance I wonder) so you lose power with stock or mild cams...

Re: 4AGE budget cam install and tuning

right, enough about hondas on my 4age tuning thread LOL  Lauren, your top end is about the same as mine, so the final power figure is about the same, but you have a peak of torque in the mid range that I don't have! I wonder if that's where the 4-1 comes in..? if so, you should be able to r...

Re: Trying to get a hold of JMR_AW11

grant - JMR posted the normal and secret ignition maps on my tuning thread here http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=131284 This should be a very useful for setting your base timing. With 11:1 compression and those cams you may need to back the timing off a little more than even the secret m...

Re: 4AGE budget cam install and tuning

the tuning continues!! when running aggressive cam timings (with 2 or more degrees of extra overlap) I am getting rough running at low rpms (1-2k). you can't cruise at these very low rpms because it jerks, and the idle adjust screw is no longer enough to sort out the rich fuelling at low rpms/idle....

Re: 4AGE budget cam install and tuning

my current favourite cam timing: in -3 ex -5 This give me a load more low end from about 2.5krpm, I suspect because of the overlap, and the top end is still really good (although not quite as much as when I had the crazy retard). The low end drivability is affected though; I can't really run much mo...

Re: modding 4age.... 150bhp?

...I'll be very happy indeed if it makes 140bhp. We shall see! I made 133bhp with 264/256 cams, stock timing gears, stock everything else including the tunnel-through-the-boot intake. Oh and a magnex exhaust, which, judging from JAE last weekend, is somewhat quiet! So probably quite restrictive. Ge...
