Re: Poor supercharger fuel mileage

I'd think 28mpg was about right. I don't remember getting much more than 30mpg out of a standard N/A. Have you checked your tyre pressures, from experience they are one of the biggest factors affecting fuel consumption (other than driving style). Also check that the rear calipers arn't binding, Mk1s...

Re: Low oil pressure

Is it 'breathing' much through the cam cover vent?

Hunting could be a vac leak but I don't see why that would affect oil pressure.

Awesome plates!

Just for show or actual, real life, DVLA registered numbers?

I'm not a huge fan of 'cherished plates' but car specific ones as accurate as that are the dogs.

Revival

I though I would revive an ancient thread. There must be some more classics in IMOC after 3 years passing! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h104/paulkay2/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/29BDECD1-0B23-467C-93C7-CAC6DA6DBFA6.jpg 190e Sportline, P100 Pickup, 944S, MR2 Mk1.5. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums...

Quick Gearbox Update

Right, its been a while so I thought I'd post a quick update about the gearbox. The box has been with Elite Racing Transmissions for about three weeks now. on inspection Elite found a few problems that we were not already aware of. As expected the synchro ring on 2nd gear is knackered but there is a...

Re: engine revs up when pressing brake pedal and tiny air bubbles in fluid

Sounds servo related to me too. I've never heard of one failing though.

Have you tried bleeding with the engine off? Any difference?

What make are they?

I want some, it sounds like they go a long way to reducing understeer.

Re: Camber Adjustable Top Mounts

Tweeks sell universal eccentric roller bearing top mounts. You sort your own collar/bush to make the shock a snug fit and you drill and tap your own bolt holes to locate the strut top in the strut tower. http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/top-mounts/rix-engineering-spherical-bearing-alloy-top-...

Re: Alignment / Lowered Suspension Question

Clean the threads and spray on some lubricant. Then take a large flat headed screwdriver and a hammer, use these to tap the collars around. You may need to give them a good few whacks before they budge but they will free off. Things would be much easier if you could get hold of a spring compressor r...

Re: Rally Car

A bit off topic but is there a difference between LHD and RHD brake servo's and master cylinders? I need to upgrade mine and it's far easier to find parts in the UK. Whilst searching the web for toyota parts bin options it does seem that there are MC with opposite fittings. Can't remember which had...

Re: Rally Car

Cheers gon, I found the same thing last night. Luckily I've got a 1b servo and MC knocking about somewhere. I'm thinking of going for the 1" MC from a Previa in an attempt to make the brakes more easy to modulate. At present they require very little force (but a lot of travel) to lock. Also we ...

Re: Rally Car

I have the MK2 MR2 (non-ABS) and it does a good job. Is it only the MC that is required? I.e. is the standard servo retained? I'll post the price of the final drive as soon as the bill arrives. Elite have assured me that it will be substantially cheaper than the £1200 asked by Kaaz and Jubu and of ...

Progress

Last Saturday saw us drop the C64 gearbox (a job which really doesn't take us long these days!). We briefly discussed putting in one of the 5speed LSD boxes that we've got but quickly decided against it. The box is currently with Elite Racing Transmissions having the shorter final drive made (the sh...

Extra Beef

I've cracked / damaged / torn the front torque mount on a nearly standard 4a-ge powered mk1, a nearly 200bhp N/A mk1 and a tuned 3s-gte mk1. I'd say strengthen it now to save having to do it at a later date. I will add that I have zero mechanical sympathy and thoroughly enjoy full rev standing start...

Re: Rally Car

I'm not really sure what we're doing yet, we've learnt a lot since the conversion was started. It would be possible to make the current shafts fit a 5speed box, just need to swap the diff over. We may even have a 5 speed box with the correctly splined diff. We'll be working on the car next weekend s...

Re: Rally Car

No bits yet, but a weekend is set aside to drop the box and begin work, we might chuck a fresh 5 speed box and LSD in for now as there is one knocking around in cogboy's kitchen. Yes Elite make some impressive kit. Escort gearboxes are a funny one, no one I speak to seems to agree on what / who is b...
