Re: Stock spring rates

Front susension is the same on both apart from the top mounts which are 3 bolt on early cars and 4 on later ones. There are some differences at the rear though. Assuming your bolt fits through the lower hole then I'd imagine that the upper hole is enlarged in order to allow the camber adjuster to work

Tacho with aftermarket ECU

Probably something Paul can answer but I'll take suggestions from anyone else... I've swapped my engine to a smallport GZE with DLI running an aftermarket Omex ECU, it's supposed to be turboed but the less said about that the better for the time being! I noticed today that the tacho is being somewha...

Re: BRAIDED BRAKE HOSE PROBLEM

Hi Jinxy, I vaguely recall having a similar issue many years ago trying to fit Goodridge hoses onto a mk1. I found that the thread would only engage a couple of turns making it impossible to tighten them up properly without risking stripping the threads. My solution in the end was to use HEL lines i...

Re: Superedition project part 1 of 3 completed ~ Pic Heavy ~

Is the new material not on the wrong way around at the front of the seat base? On the original base the cloth is darker on the left on the rear section and darker on the right on the front section, giving a kind of chequer effect when combined with the seat back. On your recovered base you have the ...

Re: Cut out

I seem to recall that hot idle problems are reasonably common, I know I had an n/a that did it at one time and I'm sure I've seen a few other people report similar symptoms so I wouldn't get too hung up on blaming the cams. Mine would often stall when stopping at lights or roundabouts after a hard r...

They don't bolt to anything, they're part of bumper skin moulding

Re: Stupid question - what are these things on the front bumper?

It's just a slight lip on the edge of the bumper skin. I'm not sure whether it serves a minor aerodynamic purpose or whether it's just to give the skin a little more stiffness in that area due to the recesses for the indicators/sidelights.

Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

Nice to see something like this in the flesh as I keep meaning to add something similar to my 6 speed as, after years of driving a 5 speed box on track, I occasionally fluff a 3rd to second downshift in the heat of the moment when I pull the lever too far accross the gate. Is yours 'built to fit' or...

Re: Rear droplink wrong length

Using droplinks slightly longer/shorter than standard shouldn't be an issue as long there's no tension in the ARB when the car is on flat level ground. If you have bought a pair then fit them both and see how it goes. Just replacing one with a shorter one is probably not a good idea though. If you'r...

Re: SC Battery keeps going flat

Those external regulators are a PITA. I thihk I have 2 or 3 lying around and I really should check them all to see which ones work as I'm sure I have at least one dead one somewhere but don't know which it is. Nice to know you've found an alternate source for them though, will bear that in mind in f...

Re: [FINALIZED] 1987 mk1 4age engine and gearbox

Yes, double hump means it has both starter locations. I only really need it for the bellhousing rather than the whole box (I'm building a spare 6 speed for the race car) so the price would need to reflect that, I'll offer £100 for gearbox and flywheel assuming it's a double hump and the flywheel is ...

I've got no need for the engine but if it's a 'double hump' gearbox then I could be tempted to take that and the flywheel off you for the right price.

Re: Super Edition

The plug cover is different on the GZE as it sits right down in the valley between the cam covers whereas the GE one sits more or less flush with the tops. Plug leads are different for the same reason. Only way to make the GE one fit without modification is to also fit GE cam covers and leads.

Yeah i'll be at JAE and would be happy to get them out of your way if no-one else wants them. What are the adjusters like? At least one of mine just seems to spin without clicking.

Re: random mk1 bits, can bring to JAE, much cheapness

I've already got a set of LEDAs on the race car that are probably pretty tired and could be tempted to take these for parts/spares/mix and match etc. No guarantee i'd ever try and get them rebuilt so what would you like to do price wise?

Why do you think you need motors and regulators? Most of the time clunky windows will be broken teeth on the gears.
