Re: Barn find
ooookay.... So it's back running with no fluid leaks. The car is safely supported and I wanted to check that the turbo is doing its thing. 2nd gear about 3000rpm and loaded with the brakes, nothing showing on boost gauge. Would this test work or is there a better way of testing without actually driv...

The rooting must have helped !
Used a new clip and it went on first try. Old clip was bending instead of opening.

My intention is to get it running properly so that I can run the engine occasionally over the winter. HFH (to finish) and alternator sorted out will see it ready for that.
MoT in March 2017 and I'll be doing some classic runs etc. throughout the Year.

Re: 6spd Mk1 Turbo in the Toyota Sprint Series
Scary 'moment' @ 33 seconds ? Nah, all under control. Had a fairly big moment at Croft this year which I might stick up though (Locked the back under braking into Tower and spent a couple of seconds trying to gather it all up whilst scubbing off speed so that I didn't end up in the field!) I...

If you ever want to check diagnostic mode is enabled just press the throttle when in diagnostic mode and it should show code 51 while the pedal is pressed.

Re: Barn find
Excellent thank you. If I had to guess I would say the leak is somewhere around the water by pass pipe area. Coolant was a tad hot to have it dripping on my face while I searched, hopefully it still does drips when its cold. Iv'e the alternator to tackle too but I am armed with Peter G's guide to he...

Re: Barn find
Once it had fuel it started right up ! One main issue is a coolant leak with the coolant running down the back of the engine, behind the turbo and onto the exhaust.
Any ideas where it might be coming from ?

Re: Barn find
Today I sorted the heater pipe, cut out the split section and fitted a piece of Samco hose 19mm id 45° bend.
Fuel pump works fine and the tank is almost re-fitted.
Now I'm in two minds as to repair the front splitter or fit a rev 2 one...

Re: Emissions failing - The latest test readings - Nightmare car
If it were a 5 wire wideband sensor then 0 - 5v would be correct for an Ox reading. Given that the 4 wire sensor is narrowband I think that the test as above may only be checking the heater circuit. The signal at VF1 is not the heater circuit. It's the feedback from the ECU after it's processed the...

The narrowband sensor oscillates between 0.1v and 0.9v approx centering on 0.45v at stoich. The senso...

Re: Barn find
Thanks !
Just as it came out of the lock up. Before it went in I polished with some really good stuff and it lived under a cover.
Going to wash it after I've done the pump.

Here is the car http://i.imgur.com/qZQNw7e.jpg I'd like to replace the front splitter with something more durable, any suggestions ? Damage was caused by a little wooden post hiding in long grass. Top Tip. A weak thick bleach solution sorts mildew instantly with no issues. (Thanks goes to my late Da...
