How much does a dealer mark up (see inside) - also - dodgy mr2s beware!

In my countrywide search for mr2s, I've been saving a lot of details and taking note of reg numbers for checks (DVLA vehicle enquire and also rac hpi type checks for those i'm interested in buying), I also save a folder of mr2 images for reference (to keep track of dogs that have been tarted up in t...

Re: engine is out :)

NOT ON THE BLOCK PAVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So it's out... cool, what you gonna do with it? I remember dropping my engines back in 2001, it was both an exciting and anxious time, couldn't belive how simple it was in the end and that was swapping engines (SC). MY car is cur...

Re: New owner, a few questions re suspension overhaul!

Good work on the suspension stuff Max. Whatever I end doing (restore or buy another car) I'll be sure to strip the underside down and treat it properly. All stuff is fine on my current 2 (inc new superflex bushes and lowered suspension) but it's not as clean as yours, I'd like to get it all treated ...

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

If i don't like blue interiors I am absolutely entitled to express my opinion. I've just thought of another hot topic for the air scoops/blue interior sub forum.. TRACK DAYS! (my personal opinon is that I couldn't care less about them but there are many people who love them, same with blu...

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

I agree totally with the ad hominem comment, Lauren is totally out of order in her views on blue interiors, strange how my posts get deleted and you have to edit yours, but hers are left intact :thumleft: I wasn't directing it at Lauren in particular, her hatred of blue interiors is legendary and I...

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

Looks like you just missed this one :( http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=98832 I think this car, blue with leather seats, is on ebay now. Try looking for Item number: 130232071324 It was sold but I guess the buyer must have backed out, it looks nice in the pictures but maybe the amount o...

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

I think we need a seperate sub forum just for discussion of AIR SCOOPS and BLUE INTERIORS

...we could avoid the content and skip straight to the inevitable ad hominem stuff then. \:D/

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

Yep, as I said there are definitely superchargers with black *CLOTH* interior, and a dark blue one wouldn't suprise me. It's the leather I was reffering to. If you are saying they had black leather then fair enough, I didn't see black leather on SCs when I was in the market for one, and I thought i'...

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

Thanks for the information, it looks like I'm after a dark blue t-bar with black leather interior. I don't fancy swapping all the interior over, I suspect the dash would be a right pain, but swapping worn leather seats for good (black) cloth ones might be doable. It seems odd that they didn't do th...

Re: Dark blue t-bar with black interior?

As far as I remember no Superchargers had leather inc t-tops (mine had a blue cloth interior) could be wrong on that as it's been 7 years since I did any SC specific research. MY dark blue na had black leather interior. I think if you find a cloth interior in a silver or dark blue car then...

Re: project restoration..is it worth it? opinions please

That looks better (ignoring the green) that some I've seen for sale for nearly £1k  Some people don't deserve mk1s, parking them up in the weeds like that and letting them rot :( If you look on here some people have repaired worse rear arches than that, but you really need to get it home up...

Re: What's the secret?

Ah, okay... I'm itching like crazy to drive my Mk1 at the moment, especially given as I can't currently drive my daily driver either... I guess I just miss driving in general... Before we bought the FTO (it's a 'joint' car for me and gf) I was very much annoyed everytime I went out in HER pre...

Wow you really matched me paragraph for paragraph there, I thought I was the only one on here who could be bothered to type more than half a page ;) Ok, some great points and thanks for the post. When I say I know this car I mean I really know it, I've already taken all the rust back as far as it ca...

Re: What's the secret?

Cheers, I'm patient because I've had a mk1 since 2001 so luckily I got most of the 'must drive it now' out of my system over the last few years, now it's sat on the drive and the supercharger is going to waste I'm getting a bit edgy esp as summer seems to be making a guest appearance this year (at l...

Re: What option would you choose? Fix mine up or buy another?

I would stick with what you have and go for it :) Yes the more I look at other mr2s the more I'm tempted. In a way my car could be seen as one of those but already half repaired (dismantled/some rustproofing), I know I'm fussy so I'd prob end up doing exactly the same to any I bought anyway (full s...

Re: Opinions please.......!

What about reporting it to eBay itself? Does that work or is that just a waste of time? From what I've read it's pretty much a waste of time, it's bad enough when it's copyright theft or something 'obvious' and they still take their time. I don't think I'd report it to someone else, I just want to ...

Re: Opinions please.......!

The amount of times I've seen ads on various sites (autotrader etc) claiming a car has something it doesn't (typically ABS or POWER STEERING on the mk1) I am tempted to email the advertiser to suggest they correct it, I've actually done it a few times but they ignore me. It would be good if ads were...

Re: What option would you choose? Fix mine up or buy another?

Just been out for 30 mins on it, the looms are not a problem, it was only one or two bunches I cut in 'good' places so can be resoldered/insulated no probs. I think i'd paint the entire inside floor pan in por15/encapsulator - prob overkill but now that rain water has sat on it for a few days there ...
