warning: long essay ;)
The age old debate... I'm a mk1SC owner so you may read 30% bias into my thoughts but I still consider them a fair appraisal of the situation. LOOKS: --------- .Mk1 and Mk2's are both outdated. .Mk3 Looks too bland from the factory but can look great with the right Kit (I even toyed with the idea of...

Re: mk1 mr2 sc
So are new import SC prices rising through rarity now? I bought my original Dark Blue (8e3) SC in 2001 for £2500. It was an Auto (I can hear the groans) but at the time the condition of the car was more important to me. It was "near mint" with only a few minor things. The mileage was low (4...

Re: Restoration Show Thanks & Pics
I wasn't there, but i've been to a couple of mk1 stands at various events (NEC). And glad to see my photo of my mk1SC still being used on the display partitions (it's the dark blue on the bottom right of this photo!). http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y244/mr2mk1chick/f4b590b7.jpg Hopefully I will ge...

<edit> where did you get the source from? I would like to see the other bit where the car first appeared outside the rovers and the camera panned up the bonnet and over the roof - looked cool :) Looks a bit grubby to start with! http://www.turbomr2.co.uk/mk1b.wmv Thanks - though to a mk1 fan(atic) ...

re: buying back as salvage - I did this in 2001 when my mk1 (supercharger) ended up under the side of a lorry which pulled out on me. http://www.mr2sport.freeuk.com/crash.htm (Pictures) I only had 3p+F+T so the ins company were not even interested in my scrap - they let me keep it for £66. It was a ...

Re: Mk1 deathtrap...
Just watched the clip again (thanks to the person who converted it) - her mum does say "ooh it's a lot better now you've done it up!" which is something. However why does she AIM for the wall even before she realises the brakes don't work? And I've gone under a lorry @ 60mph in my last Sup...

Re: Rate My 2!
Stripes (photoshopped or not) really have to go.. I'm getting a little bit of sick just looking at it ;) The car itself is nice - I have always liked black uns but a shame they stopped making them when they did. I prefer dark blue (either 8e3 or the rarer one) as it can look black-ish, goes purple u...

Re: New mr2 owner
However, it is not a motorway mile eater at all. Mine always has been - done many happy trips up and down the M5.. always a blast (though being an SC+mods helps give it a bit more oomph so don't have to rev the nuts off it so much - could always do with a taller 5th or a nice 6 OD gear though ;) ) ...

Batersbys and mid-engines don't mix - what else is there to know? I am waiting for tonight's show where the blame shifts from "daft bint who shouldn't be in a metro never mind an mr2", through "Stupid mechanic who should concentrate on regrowing a moustache instead of 'sprucing up' cl...

Re: Momo gear knob
Nice knob
just a warning to anyone - don't ever buy the momo chrome ball knob, I had one a few years ago, within 6 months the "chrome" had flaked off leaving a tarnished looking base metal eye-sore... real sporty
And no - I don't have toxic hand sweat.

www.heatedwindscreens.co.uk used to sell them for £66+vat (no they are not heated).
I have to do mine when I start this years "rejuvination" work on the SC.

Re: Replacing "B" panels behind rear arches...
Cheers Lauren... yeah long time (moved house again back down south wales!) One side isn't "too bad" from a few feat back it looks fine for example. The passenger side rear is BAD though, the first part has a hole in it - the wing itself is bubbling up (even crumbling a bit) and the rear pa...

Re: Replacing "B" panels behind rear arches...
From the MK1 Club (not the DC!!!): http://www.mr2mk1club.com/panels.html Obviously quotes will vary on getting the work done but if its just the rear return panels then it ought not to be that much. I paid £550 to have all three section replaced on both sides. Obviously the amount you pay depends a...

Re: Rolling Road power VIDEO NOW HERE
Well done Pete - that is smart power you have there. My SC is just sitting on the drive going no-where at the moment so it's much slower ;) - I do have the fensport pulley but everything else is pretty much stock so lots of work to do to get it "finished" (hey only been working on it, slow...

Re: Supercharged MK1's - what to look for ?
I had a 1989 Auto SC - gltd with Retractable mirrors, climate control, Led brake light, mirrored t-tops. It was a lovely car - got wrote off - transfered all goodies (including engine + pulley + mods etc) over to a Manual UK NA body.. been (mostly) good to me ever since. I miss the original JAP body...

Re: RE: Replacing Wheel Bearings??
Hi guys. Mk1 SC owner here, I've got to get my front wheel bearing sorted for the MOT in the next couple of days. I have a blueprint wheel bearing kit that has the bearing, some grease and a new ring/seal. In the BGB it shows also a new "inner race" and "o-ring" for the hub seal....
