Re: Tyre size advice
Having been doing some reading I think the 235 / 40 is out of the question for a 9 inch rim. The 245 / 40 is probably ideal however many people go with a 255 / 40 on a 9j! Who has experience with this size on standard shocks but lowered? Do they rub on the arches?

Tyre size advice
Evening all, I currently have 245/35/17 Toyo T1R's on my 9j rear Enkie RC5 rims. The tyres are way past their sell by date and need replacing. Problem is, I am struggling to find anything decent in this size. I just fitted Michelin Pilot sport 4's up front and they are great but they don't come in t...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Alternator nightmare
I forgot to post an update... :D New alternator (in the words of the man at my local alternator) is a load of cheap Chinese s**t! :) He tested it and it was dead! No real surprise. Before I could say anything he was stripping down my genuine alternator, found the burnt diode, rummaged through a pile...

I didn't use a light bulb but two do spark nicely when touched on the bodywork and one does not. So I would say that the above has been proven

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Alternator nightmare
Hey Luke, how you doing? Been a while :) Ok so the 3 pin plug doesn't look great, looks like it has gotten hot (probably when the removed alternator was smoking away...). I couldn't get anything with the volt meter probes, had to push a length of wire into each plug opening to get a reading. With th...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Alternator nightmare
Ok so this time last year I replaced my alternator for a second hand one from someone on imoc. It ran fine and the car was used for about 500 miles before going off the road again. Last week I got the car on road for the first time in a year and it drove for around 30 minutes before the car died. We...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
45 minute run & the fans still don't come ok. Saying that it didn't overheat so may still be working. Perhaps I'm being paranoid but I'm sure the fans always used to run when i'd finished that journey before!?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
So the fans are operating correctly?
Is it just i am not getting the system hot enough to warrant the fans running?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
Right, with the engine running no fans run.
With the O/S temperature sensor unplugged the N/S fan runs.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
Just to add....
Had a new radiator and water pump. Water is flowing through the rad and it has been bled.
It did also have a little knock on the front drivers side corner. Have not seen the fans run since any of the above have been done.

[Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
Neither of my radiator fans run. They run if wired directly to 12V. When the car is off there is continuity from the -ve on the battery to the -ve plug at the fan but this goes with the key in the ignition. The passenger side fan has 12V at the live pin when key is in and if you connect the -ve pin ...

Rear wheel/tyre mot help
My two has been off the road for some time and I am working to get it back on the road. I have removed my Enkie wheels to refurbish them and due to an engine problem with my daily driver I suddenly need the 2 on the road. As the wheels are not ready I dug the old standard rims out from behind the sh...

Re: Dash warning lights after cambelt change
Thats interesting... i have an alternator issue. Or what i believe to be the alternator. After starting up post belt change after half an hour of idling the battery was dead. When running only measuring 12V at the battery, not charging at all. Thats why i jumped to the assumption my alternator is de...

Dash warning lights after cambelt change
I sucessfully completed a cambelt change on my rev 3 tubby and it is back up and running. However... my intercooler fan no longer runs and the following lights are on the dash; 'Engine compartment cooling fan warning light' along with 'Cat high temperature warning light' Now there are a bunch of cab...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Will my rims fit on the front if i change back to stock suspension?
I have been running with Apexi N1 coilovers but want to change back to standard suspension. I have Enkei RC5 rims 17x8j (et35) on the front and 17x9j (et35) on the rear. I have changed the rears back but not the fronts yet as i am not sure if they will foul on the oversized bilstein shocks!? Don't r...
