Re: Repair or replace buckled wheel?

I've used these guys several times:

http://www.ianjemison.co.uk/alloy-wheel-repairs/

Did a great job, not expensive and he does work for various rally teams so knows his stuff - proper old school engineering shop.

He also rallies a Boxster....!

Re: Anyone used the Hankook K110

Haven't tried those, but have a full set of Kumho KU39 at that size on the GT4 and they're great - stood up to several rounds of TSS as well as regular road use, very impressed. I've since put a pair on the front of the Caldina and they're equally good - ony thing is they're a bit fussy to balance, ...

Re: EMS Powered Harness Bar in mk2

I've got one fitted and it's fine if you use it the way it was intended. The belts should loop over the top, then down to the floor where they can be secured with an eye bolt and spreader plate in the floor. The point is that when needed the force of the belt is horizontal at the drivers shoulders, ...

6.5j all round? That's standard for the front but the back should be 7j (or is it 7.5j?). Allows you to run a wider tyre,

Re: 16" tyre recommendations

T1-R's aren't too bad if you go 205/45 on the front and 225/45 on the rear as both these sizes are XL (extra load) so have stiffer sidewalls than normal T1-R's. Even so, as stated, a couple of track sessions will eat the edges off them! I've run Falken FK452's (on the back, couldn't get them for the...

Re: Wheels - R32 GTR/GTS-T?

I've got two sets (bought a set of each of the GTR / GTS and made two sets), one with R888s on for track and one for the road. Lovely wheels, offsets work well, just need to sort out some custom spigot rings as the centre bore is for Nissan (obviously). I run 205/45/16 up front and 225/45/16 on the ...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Electric aerial - not stopping!

Hi, my aerial has been fine until recently when it wont stop driving up on switching on the stereo (does after a long timeout) or down on switching off, almost as if the limit switches (if it has such a thing) have died. Any suggestions? I could get another one but it'd be nice to fix it! I've fixed...

I thought that was the right sizes? Mine certainly came with that combo on standard wheels... Not sure I've ever seen a 225/55R15 tyre!

Re: wheel alignment and geometry

I've had a couple of tyres recently that were pretty hard to balance (needed loads of weight but still didn't feel right) and it took me suggesting that they spin them 180 degrees on the rim to improve things before they only needed a few weights.... I've also replaced the steering rack on mine - at...

Would be great to see the Mk3 out again - was really looking forward to seeing it fly at Blyton so sorry it wasn't quite right...

Should be interesting competition in the tuner class.

Re: Rear tyres...any suggestions?

I think T1-R's may be your only option - I don't think you can get the 452's in that size any more (225/50R15) and the 912's they do in that size are hard to come by (and not as good as the 452's by all accounts). I upgraded to 16's for this reason - more choice of tyres. Worth looking around - a pa...

Re: Another DVLA willy up, P reg rev1!

My Rev 2 has a 53 plate on it.....!

It's a '93 car imported in 2003 and immediately on to a private plate. When I bought it and they switched to a standard plate that's what the DVLA gave me.

Never had any issues but it does confuse people.

Re: Max ET and width

Skyline R32 alloys? R32 GTS-T are 6.5 x 16, R32 GTR are 8 x 16. Offsets work fine (got a set on mine), not flush but better than standard. Just need some custom spigot rings to sort out the centre bore. Look on the likes of Driftworks and eBay and you'll see sets come up regularly - obviously need t...

Symptoms of a worn steering rack?

Hi all,

just wondering what the symptoms of a worn steering rack are? Starting to get occasional wheel wobble when driving straight, but not when cornering.

All wheels are balanced fine and it changes with road surface / comes and goes....

It's a Rev2 so getting on a bit...!

Thanks!

L F Dean and sons in Oakington have done excellent work for us in the past - good work at a sensible price.

They do work for the BMW and Merc dealerships so know what they're doing. About to put another car in for rear arches and general touch up in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Finding Wheels From Other Makes for your Two

I'm running R32 wheels on my MR2, 8" wide R32 GTR wheels on the back and 6.5" wide R32 GTS wheels on the front. Offsets are just about perfect - only thing I had to do was get some custom spigot rings fitted to ensure they were centred on the hubs properly. Tyres are 225/45R16 rear and 205...

Re: MR2 Turbo vs GT4

We've got both, a Mk2 rev2 turbo and an ST205 GT4. The GT4 is generally quicker - more power, much more planted and the 4wd make a huge difference - despite taller gearing and the losses through the drivetrain. But as Pete said - it doesn't always feel it. The MR2 is like a go kart in comparison and...

Re: Black Rev 3 GT4oc fun weekend grantham 01/05/2010

Not me this year - we took the GT4 and the Caldina (GT4) along instead and gave the MR2 a break....

Was fun last year when I did take it - the only MR2 on track amongst 50-odd GT4s!

Very nice '2 you have there Steve - had a quick look between runs.
