Re: Audio Expert needed
yeah... it's the square waves present in a distorted sound that rips the speakers up. That's why you can blow a set of 200watt rms speakers with a 40 or 45watt rms output head unit. Also why you can play em so much louder with an amp without distoring as it's usually the signal from the head unit th...

Re: Audio Expert needed
thanks, Im guessing its fine to adjust these settings while the Amp / Headunit is on? Totally, then once you've got the sound balance right, turn your head unit up as high as it will go with the amp turned down and increase the volume on your amp till the speakers only just start to distort, then b...

Re: Audio Expert needed
There's often just a switch on the amp, LPF/HPF switches between low ass filter and high pass filter. Low let's nothing but bass through, high lets no bass through. If there's a seperate hpf/lpf wsitch for each channel, or even 1 for channels 1 and 2 and another for 3 and 4 you're laughing, just fli...

Re: XBox 360 - Am I getting too old?
Just press the Xbox button in the middle of the controller, should be an option there to do it :thumleft: Doh! Why didn't I think of that? The shame........ I am turning into an old fart. Karl_T Dude I gave my mate some right abuse after he'd borrowed my pad, wouldn't work at all when I got ...

Re: Intermittant Electrical Fault, won't start BOO!
Cool, thanks... I'll let my mate know about the starters for refurbing and see what he says, though I think he's already found one that's £25 so think he'll probably go for that one. Thanks for the offer though. One thing, the starter relay, and indeed many of the relays, the contacts are all full o...

Intermittant Electrical Fault, won't start BOO!
Posted a while back about my mates mk1 with a bizarre start up fault... or 2... or 3. ](*,) They might be unrelated but: 1. It tends to fire up on 3 cylinders, run on 3 for 5 - 10 seconds then the 4th kicks in and it sound smooth and drives fine. 2. When you turn the key, and the starter turns over....

Re: Smells of petrol???
Well we'll see, I've pointed him back this way as I'm sure there's an answer for him in max's post.
Have to say though, I don't mind the smell either. My old cavalier's full of it!

Re: Smells of petrol???
Maybe I should explain myself better... The car I'm asking about is not mine, is my bro's. I've been telling him about this site ever since he got his MK1 as I found it very useful when I had mine. So I posted asking the question about his car and told him to keep an eye on it. Bearing in mind I've ...

Re: Smells of petrol???
Theirs nothing like conversation and that's nothing like conversation. some people can get the results using the search facility others prefer the friendlier route. In this case the cause of his fault is well known and a few lines would have sufficed. If people post on a regular basis without searc...

Smells of petrol???
OK so at first I thought well it's got a petrol leak but I seem to remember that I've come across a few MK1's with more than a faint wiff.
My bro's MK1 we're talking about here, smells of petrol after being thrashed at high revs. also when thrown about into corners.
This a common thing?

Re: MK1b Missfire on fire up?
Turned over but never fired. Turned over slower and slower and then stopped. As if there was no power left in the battery to turn it anymore. Then the same again the next day. Day after that though it fired up... and is driving round again. (Albeit with the 3 cylinder start). Is worth mentioning tha...

Re: MK1b Missfire on fire up?
Worth a try...
was the first thing I thought of to be honest though it's been missfiring on start up since before the bad weather...
it's the recent failure to start that's weird. Yours do this?

MK1b Missfire on fire up?
Evenin all... Mate of mine has an MK1b T-bar. When it first fires up it only runs on 3 cylinders for about 10 seconds. Then it corrects itself and purrs away beautifully as it should. Also, couple of days ago it wouldn't fire up, as if the battery was dead. wouldn't fire an hour or two later, and wo...

Re: Joining the DUKE club - 360 gone belly up
beauty... Cheers Feel a bit better now. and yeah I was pretty pleased with my £50 purchase.
Experienced my first "freeze" last night and panicked straight away. trying to renew my xbox live membership and it froze up 2 or 3 times. 3 or 4 minutes at a time. Was expecting red dots.

Re: [All] [Generic] Forza 2
Another question... been having problems finding races on Forza recently... Last night it crashed just when a race was meant to start. then I couldn't get into any, just tried to join then said "Game session full or no longer available" Thing is, how do I know if it's a problem with my con...

Re: Joining the DUKE club - 360 gone belly up
You've all given me paranoia now...
Got mine from a mate for... wait for it... £50!
No it weren't nicked, came with a phone contract for free and he already had one.
Thing is... do I have to produce a receipt if/when mine goes red? Cuz I can't.

Idiot :!: When I had my mr2 I got pulled once or twice a week and very raely broke the speed limit... due to being pulled all the time... but have experienced so many different excuses for being pulled, including, "Just checking why you were parking in this car park" and "Why's this i...

Re: Guitar Hero 3 Vids - Must Watch!
I na word... no. Reckon if I had 10 years practice at the game I'd do that wi my eyes shut too! Thing is as a guitarist you try to play the song properly... can't help it, is just instict like. So you end up playing notes that don't need to be played in the game and get bood off for that! at this mo...

Re: Guitar Hero 3 Vids - Must Watch!
I cant compute the notes on screen to my fingers in time. I've played a fair few on medium and thats tricky enough. If your playing it on hard/expert you must have some guitar experience surely? Most definitely not I can assure you! I've been playin the guitar for over 10 years now and this game fr...
