No worries mate.... if I find the pipe, I'll have a decent bung to get shot of, so will let you know.

Re: [All] [Generic] High RPM reving on a cold engine (engine experts..)

How will it cause wear? There's no load when revved from cold when the car is stationary. Think about the process of running in a new camshaft on a freshly built engine. What's not good for engines is starting the car up and letting it idle up to temperature like so many people do. Just get in the c...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] what can be used to block up recirc pipe?

Jim,

I'm actually searching for that plastic pipe and the rubber bit that links the re-circ valve back to the intake.

My Rev2 intake pipe has a dv blanking part in it.

If I presume you're still running the Rev2 intake pipe, then we might be able to do a swap or something....

Re: Overtaken by something special

Last weekend was crazy.

I spotted an Enzo, a Merc SLR, and snapped a Veyron on the motorway:

This guy is a comedy genius!

Suppose it's to be expected when you judge how fast a car is by how well it accelerates on the motorway.

Re: Virginity, Porsches and Bottoms

Agree on the sideways thing. The amount I was spending on trackdays last year, banging in lap times etc, I could easily have gone back to racing......... which is what I'm going to do now. Being the fastest car out there on a trackday is slightly missing the point IMO. I have no ego issues like that...

Re: [All] [Generic] Intercooler temps project

IMO, you need to log boost pressure to give the figures some validity. We did a similar thing a few years ago with ACT differential, but the only real value is for intercooler efficiency testing is a full load full throttle 5th gear run. The datalogging will be very useful for that function though. ...

Re: are all evo drivers big heads

If I bought a £3000 rev2 turbo and spend £10,000 on it, I'm certain it's going to be doing a 8min30. If you take a £3000 evo to the ring I'm certain it won't be doing an 8min30 Yes, but we're comparing times, not cost. If you want to do a direct comparison, then like for like. Standard for standard...

Nice spin Jon! Looked very lively under braking!

That Mk1 in the previous vid looks like such a laugh to drive on track. Nice smooth driving too 8)

Re: are all evo drivers big heads

Quality thread! I love how all these people harp on about the Mk2 Turbo being a real drivers car. How's that? Because it has two seats and a mid engined layout? MX5 is more of a driver's car! I love my EVOs - we took a 6 to the Ring and banged in an 8:30 straight out the box - would love to see that...

Re: Virginity, Porsches and Bottoms

I think it comes from knowing how your car behaves and how it reacts, before too long you'll 'hear' it telling you what it's doing and what it's thinking of doing. Plus I try to soak everything up, feel everything but there is one thing in common to them all - they're all changes.... ....and IMHO i...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 3S Service Centre - Shamed

All garages will have issues and problems occur. It's how they deal with those problems that determines their ability IMO. From my experience in the industry though, it's always far better to keep the customer informed of exactly what is going on, rather than telling small white lies to try and cove...

Hardly say it's pushing the boundaries though.

GT30 and enough fuel and no wonder it's pi$$ed 400.

With virtually standard compression ratio, I wouldn't be hurrying to run any more boost through it though.

Re: Slick tyres

....what are slicks like to drive on? How do they break traction when you push them too hard? Also....would there be a risk of putting too much load on the suspenders if you're nailing it with sticky boots on? For track use I really love the Advan Neova's, they're grippy, progressive and don't chun...

Overrated unreliable cars for the rich. Have you even been a passenger in one, let alone driven any Ferrari? Judging by the amount of posts on here, I'd say the MR2 was an over-rated unreliable car for the poor. 355 on track, been in two 360 modenas. Fantastic car, overpriced and unreliable though....

Good to see someone approaching the prospect of ownership with humility.
