Bleeding the clutch

Hi

I need to swap over my Clutch slave cylinder for a salvage part. I've heard that bleeding the system can be a nightmare.

Is there a particular method which is preferred? I would prefer to avoid splashing out on a vacuum system.

Many thanks

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Knocking noise near side rear

Could it be the bottom ball joint? Jack the rear up and use a pry bar to look for any slackness

Re: alternator pivot bolt siezed

I can't see how you can't get a socket onto the head? Remove the rear wheel put a socket on the head (An Irwin bolt grip remover) - then put an extension bar onto a breaker bar? Simple. plenty of access. The pivot bolt is ALWAYS removed using a socket and extension with the wheel removed. There is n...

BTW

The only threaded portion is on the inboard lug of the alternator support bracket.

The fundamental requirement is that any coolant used must be ethylene glycol based. If you can confirm that you will be fine.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Coolant issue

Did you have the heater control set to fully hot? If not an air lock may result. What I've done the last couple of times is to 'burp' the heater pipes to get the last of the air out. By this I mean - have the car running - set the controls to fully hot for a few minutes. Then while the car remains r...

This happens to mine. If you start the car up and leave it idling for a few minute you will then hear the power steering pump power down. Quite normal.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Front brake floaty thing seized

It will be easier if you swap the caliper support bracket using a salvage part. That way you will get pins which slide and boots which seal. Plenty on ebay (make sure you get the correct side and that it's a post rev 1 part) See: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-MR2-MK2-Front-Passenger-Brake-Caliper...

Re: MOT fail

You will be able to get the rack cover and wheel bearing from TCB http://www.tcbparts.co.uk/suspension.htm Any decent high street motor factors would be able to get the pads and bearing within an hour or so. They may need more time for a steering boot. You may be wise to consider a new set of front ...

You must have a really low garage?? The genuine ariel only extends to around 5'6" - 5'8" from the ground.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Dashboard bulb stock replacement - Size?

Hi JohnnyC - I'd just replaced all 4 lights with 501s that I had in the garage. Not heard of 504s until I read your post. Yes I've got a dimmer on mine too. I may swap to the lower wattage ones if I'm not happy! Anyway whilst sorting the lights I refurbished the cloth dust seal above the steering co...

[Mk2] [Generic] Dashboard bulb stock replacement - Size?

Hi

The dashboard bulb covering the fule gauge and left portion of the speedo has failed.

I believe I need a capless 501 for a straight swap?? Can you confirm?

Also - do I need a green 501 or do the origial bulbs have a green sleeve which will slip over a white/clear replacement?

Many thanks

Re: iPod interface for standard radio

If it's the original cassette version - a cassette on a wire works perfectly. the wire can be fed behind the head unit so that it is permanently in situ.

The playback quality is far far better than any frequency modulators available. Far neater result as well.

Re: Leaves!

These will clear - dash vents only - full power - open and close one vent at a time. The blower is powerful enough to clear any debris.
