Only the Vin number will really tell you if it's a revision 1 or 2.
Your car maybe went out from factory in october 1991, but sold on the market in feb 92, so it would be a rev1.
If the VIN number ends with a number higher than 0058848, so you can be sure it's not a rev1

Chassis numbers of rev3's MR2 end with a number bigger than 0087385.

A friend of mine has found some clear toblerones with orange bulbs on e-bay. The price was about 100 £ for a pair. It's expensive, but less than 400/500 for the flat leds ones.
