Re: Mk2 2gr supercharged

Sounds like a plan.

Just figured out the planned colour scheme is very similar to what my mate used back in the day on his wide-arch Fiat X/19 conversion (like this one):

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C246460

Think his paint was closer to yours though.

Great colour for a wide arch monster.

Re: 4x4 drivers

Thanks for all the input. I guess it's fair to say that sometimes 'you just have to have been there', in a few years I guess we will all be driving around with GoPro's and the like and just post up the vids. Probably on reviewing some of those vids will also make us realise it didn't quite happen as...

Re: 4x4 drivers

Poor planning by the OP. If you cannot get the overtake safely completed in the distance you can see, then you should not perform the overtake. Same applies to parked cars as to moving ones. Yes, the other guy was clearly a bit of a knobber for not giving the space and tooting, but at the same time...

Re: 4x4 drivers

If your already well committed to the overtake (no cars coming towards you at the time) the approaching car should patiently wait for you to finish your maneuver ... not beep and bully you because there cars bigger lol .. that how it works in my opinion (20 years of driving). If you both get to a p...

Re: 4x4 drivers

He said the road ahead was clear when he started the manouver. Exactly. I guess there's an element of judgement involved as to whether you start passing the vehicles or not when someone is coming the other way. In this instance I was already passing the first car (as I said) when I saw the car comi...

4x4 drivers

Just got back from a trip to the shops. Took a slight detour round some of the back roads and on one part I was coming down a hill on a road with no pavements, hedges on both sides and wide enough for exactly one car either side of the white line (my area is semi-rural). There were 3 or 4 cars parke...

Re: Largest tyres on a rev3 turbo 17" arches rolled

I have definitely seen someone get 285's (not sure of sidewall height) on the rear with standard rolled arches. A while back so honestly couldn't say how it was achieved. That car in the link looks gash IMO by the way. Totally useless as a road vehicle to boot. I really do not understand why anyone ...

Re: Bad driving...by me

Top man for admitting your mistake and posting up, not many would  I just hope nobody else is tempted to do what I did, it would've been annoying to go to the next junction and come around, but at the end of the day it's just 15 minutes or so of wasted time. The alternative is possibly writeo...

Bad driving...by me

Was on the motorway last weekend and found my turnoff coming up sooner than I thought. Got over to the left as quick as I could but ended up making a snap decision to go over the beginning of the hatchings rather than carry on to the next junction. Really lost all situational awareness and nearly co...

Re: mazda3 mx sport thingy?

Had a bit of a play with one of those Focus ST's a few months back. Just away from the lights, nothing major. Really nothing in it between that and my C320 Coupe. He was trying too. Wouldn't necessarily fancy my chances on the twisties though. From what I've read, the MPS is a bit quicker than most,...

In the winter you'll have no concept of whether or not it's working. I'm sure you've already thought of that though. :thumleft: Very true. Same thing happened when we got our C-Class. Bought in November, didn't realise until April the aircon wasn't working. Was lucky to get it done under warranty, ...

FWIW, my T1's got pretty lively once they got below about 4mm (Rev3 turbo). And that was with verified good geometry.

Agree with Highwaystar's comments above.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Whiteline ARB settings - What is best?

I had mine set to softest front, medium rear. It still felt a bit over-stiff at the back TBH (yellow Bilsteins + stock springs all round).

Unfortunately I sold the car before I could experiment too much, but the new owner was happy with the handling I understand.

Makes me want to go widebody lol you could quite easily turn a mk3 into this if you wanted too. Another vote for helix - UK firm, great service and great product. You will pay more but it'll be worth it. Got about 20k miles out of mine at 300bhp. Next owner had the friction plate replaced while the engine was out - good thing about the Helix is that you don't have to replace the whole thing. ...

Re: Does making coilovers softer, raise the ride height?

You might also want to maybe run some softer springs, i'm pretty sure tein do some different rates for coilovers. If you have teins with adjustable damping the knob is normally on the bottom of the strut housing iirc. However teins (like 99% of jap coilovers) only allow you to adjust bound damping....

Lauren, Have you ever heard the phrase "when you're in a hole, stop digging"? You freely admit to having accrued 25 points on your licence, having crashed into a lampost and if memory serves correctly, being involved in an RTA where someone was killed. Can you not accept that this might j...
