Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?

If its overtaking power you want then the tubby wins hands down, overtaking is nice and whooshy. :thumleft: just spent ages reading loads of other threads and have come across the idea of a v6 option. How does this factor in to the mix of N/A and Turbo? And how much (ballpark) does this cost? The P...

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?

MR2's are one of the few cars ever built that looks great 'out of the box'. Most other cars need modifying to make them look any good. The only improvement would be slightly bigger wheels maybe. I think you can realy only apply this to rev3 and upwards. Rev1's look horrible standard, non colour cod...

Re: Current Financial Climate - whats the implications on MR2 owning?

well, i have 103K on the clocks of my rev1 n\a, and she still pulls like a train. as long as they have a full service history and have been well looked after, the 3sge should be good to 200k+ I'm looking at something like this. Now I'm guess the images and description are far too vague to ascertain...

Re: Current Financial Climate - whats the implications on MR2 owning?

If I'm honest chap, I'd say its best for you to figure that out by keeping an eye out on pistonheads, autotrader, here, etc. You'll soon figure out what is a good buy and what isn't. I'm sure you could get a rev 3 N/A for that money... Yeh, cheers fella. Already been scouting pistonheads, ebay etc....

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?

I don't see how you are going to have £1600 depreciation in a year. If you buy a car for 2K and sell it a year later surely you'd expect to get at least a grand? just throwing out random numbers. i just know that depreciation is a shocker these days. the £2k buy price is what i'm looking to spend s...

Re: Current Financial Climate - whats the implications on MR2 owning?

Implications of owning an MR2?! None, it's a £4k car not a £160,000 lambo. True, true. But frivalous spending is what has gotten people up sh!t creek in the 1st place! (of course not forgetting the banks - but thats a whole other topic!) I guess I'll start looking then. Whats a good mileage vs pric...

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?

I'm a bit confused by your question, are you suggesting buying 2 cars, or an N/A first then a turbo? Only I don't get the 'buy one for £2k, sell it for £400' bit!! Soz I probs didnt explain well - from reading the thread it would appear that an N/A would be a more appropriate choice of engine for a...

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?

With no RWD or fast road car experience, I recommend an N/A first. Having the turbo massively increases your chances of getting in trouble, as its far less progressive, and will bite your ar$e without experience. You can always sell up in 6 months and get a turbo. I loved my old N/A but also love t...

Current Financial Climate - whats the implications on MR2 owning?

Hello, Just had a PM from another member on here and it kind of re-sparked my search for 'the' MR2 for me. Was looking at Rev4/5 Turbo with low mileage. The only reason I stopped looking was because of the stories I read of MR2s in Winter weather. With all the credit crisis stuff going on at the mom...

Re: MR2 Mk2 NA - As much fun as a tubby?

This thread has been most helpful - but also most confusing! I still haven't bought my MR2 (there's a credit crisis on you know!). I originally planned to go all in and buy a tubby - the best condition/lowest mileage I could afford. I've always looked at it as an investment piece for me. I mean - I ...

Rash at RA Motors has a Rev5 in with lots of mods for that price area, give him a call :thumleft: :thumleft: http://www.ramotors.co.uk/viewcar.php?car_id=356 I've been in contact with him briefly before. He had a really nice rev5 in a midnight purple (kind of) colour. but I was a bit late on the up...

[Mk2] [Turbo] "What can I get fo' a dollar?" - ok a little more than that...

Hi, I'm kinda ready to buy an MR2 Turbo about now through some fortunate insurance quote from Admiral (£1200 fully comp - but doesn't cover after-market parts). This has now got me thinking about the sort of things I need to account for. The reason I'm posting is I'm sure there's probably some basic...
