Re: Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
I seem to be sorted now. The garage found that the replacement alternator had some kind of fault, so have replaced it with another one.

Re: Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
OK, another update! All had been well, but now when I get high up the rev range (5500+), the battery and engine cooling fan light flash on again  . They stay on unless I drop the revs. I was wondering if they have fitted the wrong alternator i.e one with less output, I know there are a couple ...

Re: Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
Yep - as suspected, alternator was knackered. Got a new one on today, and all is well again. Thanks for the help folks .

Re: Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
i did wonder about the alternator. Having just fitted a good battery, the voltmeter is only at the mid point on the scale (was more at 3/4 last week).

Re: Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
UPDATE - I ran the car last night for about a half hour run, everything was fine - no warning lights. I've now started it today and the battery light is on (brand new mega battery!) and the cooling fan light has come back on. The car runs fine though. Anyone got any suggestions? It seems strange the...

Re: Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
Yes, engine runs and sounds OK. I spent the last hour rumaging around in the shed with a torch to find my spare cooling fan relay. I thought i'd test this by quickly swapping my spare relay into the car. Fired the engine, and no cooling fan light on now  . I think that has solved it, perhap...

Engine bay cooling fan warning -UPDATE
Hi All, My engine bay cooling fan light has come on this afternoon after replacing the battery. I had to jump start the car yesterday, and found the battery was knackered. Fitted the new battery this afternoon and the light came on straight away, I tried looking in the haynes manual but can't find a...

Re: For those with KYB's/replaced shocks
the nuts on kyb's are different as the top of the shock is a different shape therefore you cant use the orginal nuts. the kyb's should come with them so get onto who ever supplied you. Ditto...you can't use the toyota insert 'nuts' on the GR-2 inserts and new ones should be in the boxes along with ...

Re: For those with KYB's/replaced shocks
Hmm, worth a shot, but I think those people will be few and far between
Will a motor factors stock these on their own? I think the same insert is used in a certain model lexus & camry.

Re: For those with KYB's/replaced shocks
I bought them from a chap on ebay - brand new and unused. It seems he hasn't included the required top nut then.
I'll ask him what has happened, I was sure they should come with KYB's own top nut. Is there any alternative if he doesn't have them?

Re: For those with KYB's/replaced shocks
It's one of these which is a bit knackered, nut that holds the shock in.
Does it matter if I use the Toyota nut with the KYB's? I'm just wondering if the KYB ones are different
Thanks
Pete

For those with KYB's/replaced shocks
Hi All, I'm just about to refurbish a spare set of struts and fit some KYB inserts. I was going to paint the struts up with Por before I fit the KYB's too. Do I fit the new inserts with the existing nut that held the original inserts in? There aren't any nuts with the new inserts, but one of the ori...

Re: Turbo 4AGE Questions
If you want a turbo 4AGE, you would probably be better starting with a supercharger engine, or at least putting SC pistons in the 4AGE to allow a bit more boost. The 20v is a direct fit on your existing engine mounts, you will need to sort out custom coolant pipes and i'd get a plug and play wiring ...

Looks fine to me. The centre storage box with closing front is probably the only thing that was better on the Mk2 than on the MK1

Re: Shame It's So Rough
I restored one pretty much like that (maybe worse actually), just for the sake of doing the project.
Was very pleased with myself that I had saved a scrapyard bound MK1 I had the same problems with space though, so it had to go once finished.

Re: Cracked mongoose exhaust
I'm not sure exactly how much it was for just that, I had a couple of other things sorted out at the same time.
I think it was about 1/2 hour labour though, so around £20.
