It looks like a flux capacitor to me.

I had a look at the BGB wiring diagrams and it is indeed just a junction box.

Matt
I'd thought of doing this because I did it to a VW Golf 20 years ago (for a laugh). I've started by painting the skirts and splitter matt black to see how it looks. The main reason is that I've had problems getting a decent dark blue mixed for my car and was thinking of re-spraying the whole thing i...

Re: Keyless entry with Window close module Driver Window Wiring help
Might do the boot auto to as the key is sometimes hard to open it. That sounds interesting, what's needed for that? Someone gave me a bunch of tasty little 12volt solenoids and I've been scratching my head thinking what I could use them for. They should be able to activate a car lock okay. I had th...

I disconnect mine. Brand new battery fully charged will go flat on my car in about a week. The radio and alarm draw a some current all the time.

Not sure if this helps, but I did Jimi's mod on the passenger door and added a second control relay into the door. After that I wired up a cheap alarm I got on eBay that had a closure output. The output pulled to GND so I added a transistor circuit so it would output +12V and 2 diodes so this output...

Resistors
Yeah, the 470R resistors look like the other part of the R/C timer. I might try a switch or 2 with different resistor values.
This is a fun project, the type keeps me amused !

Bigbobo, don't apologise, thanks for taking the time to reply.
Lauren, that sounds like a good place to start, I'll try that first.
Thanks folks

Is this a simple R/C circuit? I'm wondering if the resisitor could be replaced with a potentiometer to give a variable time.

Odd Idle
I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice on an odd problem I have with my car, which is an SC with a big pulley and a Janspeed exhaust. When I start it cold, it idles at about 1200 revs and then drops to 900-1000 in a few minutes. For the next 30 or 40 minutes or so all is well. Then the idle...

There's a post on here at the minute "SC Exhaust Manifold" where this is being discussed. To use a Toyota 1-wire one you need to bore 3 holes in the manifold and for a Bosch or similar 4-wire one you can either drill and tap a single hole or go with 3 holes and use a boss adaptor. I have a...

Excellent
Outstanding. Bulletproof cars. I took mine to be tested last night at the local gov test centre (different system in Northern Ireland) and half-way through the test they stopped the engine and it wouldn't start again. The battery was flat. The test had to be abandoned and I have to book a re-test to...

Arduino
Hi The Arduino would be ideal for that, in fact I'd love to see this working some day. You can get serial LCD displays cheaply now that interface very easily and you would only need to run a few wires from the boot to the dashboard. I like the idea of replacing the clock and might nick that if you d...

My diagnostic box is 'non-invasive' in that it connects to the sensors and not the ECU. It sends the data via Bluetooth as a stream of ASCII code that can be read by anything that understands RS232. Because the data is being sent at 9600bps the overall sampling is limited to about once a second, but...

Matt I did this job about a month ago, haven't got the immobilising sorted, but have full closure with the doors locking and the windows going up by themselves which is pretty cool. The control unit for the power locking is in the passenger's door, but the switch is in the driver's door so 2 wires g...

Later in the summer I'm going to try and get the pipework under the car and the condenser and ancilliaries out and if I manage it I'll let you know and you can have what you need.
All the best

Many thanks for the heads-up. I contacted the supplier I was looking at and they had 2 GZE caps left in stock at the same price (£20) so I ordered one of those. I'll maybe just go to Toyota for a rotor.
Thanks
