Replacing Heater Matrix on a MK2

Post by Net »

Hi guys,

I'm considering buying a MK2 G-Ltd from someone, but he's told me the heater matrix is knackered and has been disconnected. The air-con works but not the heater. Good of him to be honest, but I need to know how difficult a job it is and how much it might cost.

Any ideas?

If its anything like the MK1 you are looking at around 6 hours labour as the whole dash has to come out to get to it.

I had the same problem on my MK1 and simply cut a hole out in the bulkhead and had it done in around 40mins. Article is in knowledge base.

This assumes though that the MK2 heater matrix comes out from the rear of the housing like the MK1 does though.

Its a mega PITA job if you have to dismantle the entire dash and i mean everything to get to it.

Thanks...

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll give it a miss!

Its probably been disconnected as the heater matix pipes under the car have cracked - its quite common on the Mk2, and a fairly expensive one to fix as the fuel tank has to come out for the repair.
