Stock front wheel studs - length??? Mines mysteriously changed size!

Post by J-1 »

Can anyone please confirm the length of stock front wheel studs?

Background - I changed all 20 stock wheel studs to longer ones a few years back during the transition from road car to track car.

However!!! I have recently just noticed that that one corner (passenger side front) has miraculously morphed from a longer wheel stud back to stock ones. Imagine that.

People might say that it was an over-sight during the installation of the longer studs, BUT as the car was built primarily for Knockhill, which is mostly right handers meaning all weight would be on the passenger side front wheel, why would I leave that one in particular??? In fact, why would I leave any when all 20 were done at the same time...

Any help is appreciated as I am offshore just now and can't remove a wheel stud to measure it. I'm hoping to purchase longer ones ASAP.

Thanks in advance.

Can't help with stock length but if you're looking for new long studs that aren't Chinese eBay rubbish then you want ARP studs, part number ARP 100-7715, I've found H-tune to be the cheapest UK source

I wonder how the other ones disappeared though? Imagine if they were stolen from your car while you weren't there.. maybe when it was being 'worked on' ?

My GOODNESS how could that possibly happen?!?! Did you have a day changing a hub over and not remember??

Maybe it was stolen from your drive?

Doesnt that now mean someone has an extra-ordinarily long wheel stud set on their car?

Since blowing a piston in 2013, the car has been in a total of 3 places.

One of which is our workshop, so we can rule that out straight away as removing wheel studs is something that we haven’t needed to do since installing the longer ones ages ago.

Another place the car was only there for a few days, and believe me, we had bigger problems than worrying about wheel studs at the time.

And the third, well... let’s just say the cars spent a lot of time there over the past year or so, and I actually received a message from someone else who had their car at the same place and the exact same thing happened to him!!!!! Fortunately this was noticed when he took his car to a more reputable MR2 Specialist and new studs were installed there and then.

Are those ARP’s suitable for the front?

I ordered extended studs (not ARP) but they were the wrong spline.

Really needing 5 extended studs.

No need to ask for PM, he's referring to me.

Problem is, what use are 5 wheel studs to me?

And if i had removed the hub (and not used any that i have in stock already removed), and fitted it to another car, chances are the closed wheel nuts would not have tightened on the longer studs. And if i had then removed the long wheel studs, and refitted the customer's short studs, i'd be left with ........ 5 long studs.......

I keep them in stock, and have done for years, so no need for any customer's studs.

Just find it incredibly strange that the car had 20 extended studs, but now has 15. You highlighted that my previous set of nuts were only on by about 5 or 6 threads each so suggested I buy a tuner style nut that captures more threads, which I did. You supplied and installed these nuts for me, but failed to mention that the newly supplied near side front nuts were only on by 5 or 6 threads as they were stock length studs... which was the whole point of me buying a different style of nut?!?! Odd.

Can you please reply to my email asking how much you sell extended studs for?

This confuses me - are you saying you are waiting for 'Blobby V IMOC's resident troll' as in 'Blobby versus the Troll', or more like 'Blobby five, the resident troll'?

Weights easy to gain Peter, weights also easy to lose, that's why 4 years ago I smashed off 5 stone in 3 months, taking me down between the 13 to 14 stone mark, I'm pretty confident there's less than you, Blobby gidden :thumleft:

I'll tell you what isn't easy to change though, being a compulsive liar, which you are, a thief, which you are... And just a general cowboy with a spanner. Which you are

Like I say, weight is easy to change, being a cu.nt like you, isn't so....

Absolutely sensational reply.

He's not even had the decency to reply to me about 5 wheels studs after me spending probably not far off £12K with him. I also had to spend another £1000 odd on labour having his poor workmanship fixed. But that's another story for another time. A time not so far away either...

Because he's a compulsive liar mate, he's very very good at it and comes across as believable, if one doesn't know him well.

As per the studs, he prob doesn't even carry them in stock, he's just trying to cover his ar$e for the theft, and his reasoning as to why he didn't need to steal them
