MR2 Turbo The SR-71 Blackbird

Post by Odin_S »

After seeing so many interesting threads on here, i think its high time i showed fellow owners my 8 year project

Big thanks to Luke Bliss for all the work on my car, and putting up with my perfectionist approach 8)

Well the turbo search started in summer '08, IMOC came up with the goods when i saw this

Actual pictures that sold me

The car was pretty much standard barring the exhaust and scoop.

Changed the scoop pronto, and a little birdy told me a Do-Luck front and side were up for sale at £200 a piece, so i jumped on it

Feeling quite pleased with myself :D

The real changes to the car started 2014 when i decided more power was needed

I didn't really know much about what i needed but knew i wanted around the 400bhp mark. So lots of reading and trawling on websites followed (Still don't know much :oldtongue: )

So a Garrett 3076 came up on here as well as a Link G4 storm and the ball was rolling

In the meantime, i acquired so Work Equips. James did a great time getting them pristine again even down to the centre caps painted.

I know i'm a bit of a tart having red barrels but they do look good before they're covered in brake dust :?

Steady artist hand needed on the centre caps, the result was quite a nice surprise

Looks smart - did Luke build your engine?

Any engine bay pics?

Seen this in the flesh up at the old
Pacific Works workshop / mud pit, lol

Incredible looking car mate, the Do-Luck kit
really changes the look of the sw20.

Nice!

Confused that it already has a rev5 spoiler in that last picture- have you had it sprayed already?

Hehe sorry for the little confusion guys, i am fast forwarding a lot of the events as i didn't want this to be boring to read

Here is the rear transition over the years

This was '08 Rev 3

Luck was on my side again found a damaged Do Luck rear bumper 2010

Looking quite sad for itself. Decided the middle part having broken off was a blessing in disguise, as i never liked that bit of the bumper and it would cover the exhaust cans. So kept it off and had it smoothed over

I've bought another fix-her-upper from Ashley a few weeks ago as it was a genuine Rev 5 spoiler

I do like the red barrels and actually it had already crossed my mind doing that to my barrels when the time comes, I also have a few other colours in mind

Everything looks spot on in your build

I thought to myself, why not. I think you can tell what my favorite colour is.

Basically my Work Equips are my summer wheels and Enkei winter.
Thanks for the appreciation

stunning car, the Do-Luck kit really suits black paint. I actually prefer the Enkei's to the Equips though..

do you know what your full engine spec is?

Heh it's like a parent choosing a favourite child, you can't.
Engine spec is

Wosser pistons 8.0:1 originally was going for Wiseco 9.0 but wanted more of a buffer for reliability rather than all out power

Standard rods and cams
Phoenix Power SMIC
Aquamist water injection kit HFS3 48 meth 52 water mix with 5L baffled tank.
800cc sard injectors
GT 3076r on standard manifold ( didn't want to deal with cracking ) 63AR 38mm WG
Blitz SUS intake
3 inch Downpipe
Boost at the moment controlled by AVC-R this may change to the Link G4 controlling it as it already controls the Aquamist

Link G4 Storm this is the 2009 one, upgraded the map sensor to 4 bar
