I've got a power FC in my car, and I've bought a Datalogit so I can do a bit of logging, map tweaking etc myself.
what I'd like to have is a double din "car PC" so I can have the datalogit fitted permanently, making logging easier (no having to plug a laptop, worry about the battery dying, fanny around with 12v adaptors etc) and enabling easy map changes etc.
I'm pretty useless with electronics so I don't want anything I have to build myself but I've seen cheap windows 8 CE double din units online - will these be able to support FC edit? - if not what will?
also I'd like the capability of having a keyboard - either USB or bluetooth that I can stick in the glovebox when not in use,
am I dreaming or is this a realistic prospect without spending a ton of cash?

If you see an MR2 with a raised engine cover, the bottom line is it's probably faster than your car.

to be honest I think I've sacked the idea off, just going to get an old laptop with a serial port specifically for mapping. In reality most "work" I.e analysing logs, making changes to the map etc can be done on the sofa in comfort then re flashed onto the ECU, while an in car PC would be cool it would then mean downloading logs onto a usb, transferring them onto a laptop, then doing the changes and reflashing.
and the money saved by not spending money I don't need to can be spent on other more important parts

What inputs do you need ? If you can survive on usb alone there are some doubledin android headunits that look quite good (supplement with a powered hub)
If you need serial - you're looking at a proper motherboard with a serial port or two.
I've done this (because I'm an IT nerd anyway) in my car and you end up facing...
- slow boot times. However fast you think it's going to be, it's a minute from boot to logging something. It is not an embedded solution (i.e power on and it runs almost immediately)
- DC system. There are some around, similarly
- Ignition aware bios. You want it to wake up on ignition AND shutdown on ignition off (the BIOS/power system tells the OS that the engine has stopped from which you can do graceful shutdown)
- Screen and keyboard (and mouse). There are bluetooth keyboards, but I suspect a touchscreen is what you want. I don't like the 'dash mount' screens and would rather have it in the stereo position or even embedded in the passenger sun visor.

If there are android headunits, then windows 8/10 tablet head units can't be far away.
