[Mk2] [Generic] Group Buy Gaz's MK2 brake upgrade adapter brackets

Post by Claypole »

Hi,

I’m planning to upgrade the brakes all round on my mk2. I’ve decided on using the stock rear callipers from a revision 2 onwards and for the front callipers either a pair of Nissan 200sx s14a 4 pot’s or Nissan 300zx z32 4 pot’s. Using this calliper setup will enable me to use Toyota Supra Twin Turbo "UK Spec" Front Discs (324mm) for the front and Mazda RX8 "Sport" Front Discs (324mm) for the rear.

To allow the above to be bolted to the car I require a set of front and rear adapter brackets. Now here lie my dilemma – I was planning to buy the brackets from gazrev1turbo from MR2OC; however Gaz has them made up to order with a local engineering company he uses. He has advised me to meet minimum order if I can secure 2 or more orders to go with mine he will have them made.

You'll need at least 17" wheels, with a clearance of 60mm from disc face to back of wheel.

Front and Rear brackets, with all mounting hardware £150 inc. uk recorded delivery

Full fitting instructions with pictures are included with the kits

The following link will take you to MR2OC original post for the brackets: www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/58/137992.html?h ... 20calipers

If anybody is interested in a set of these brackets please PM me.

Thanks Neil

Stay with stock brakes and the best pads.

You are never going to get a good balance just changing calipers without all the testing that toyota do in the first place.
Remember this is a mid engine car and the rear brakes do far more than a front engine car

If my tubby was stock - then yes why upgrade - Toyota spent millions on R&D; good service of brakes would do.

Im running near 300bhp - a recent visit to Silverstone found my brakes wanting big time.

After thorough research including some science (bias, balance etc) I discovered this set up. Every owner I have spoken with who have this mod recommend it over stock anyday.

Research done, owner testimonials listened too - mind made up that this brake set up is the way to go :thumleft:

What is an approximate price that the total conversion will come too?

Where are you getting the callipers from? Breakers/

See you have a 1995 tubby – so your rear callipers won’t need upgrading; only the rear bracket and new discs required. Expect to pay £60 for a pair of discs from a local motor factors

I got my front 300zx callipers with pads from a local breakers, paid £100. There is a pair of refurbished front 200sx 4 pots with pads for sale on mr2oc at the moment, the seller wants £100 + postage – link www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/308/159026.html

The 200sx use existing brake hoses. You can expect to pay about £80 for a pair of supra discs from a local motor factors.

Cheers

Just require one more buyer to reach minimum order; once there are 3 Gaz will place an order with the machine shop to have the sets made. Are you interested?

1, Claypole
2, Buddle
3, bolton (fronts only)
4, slipping clutch (rear only) - pending confirmation
