Hi Oilman.

I've used the Fuch Titan 5w40 for my MR2 NA 1992 is this the best to use (other than the ester based oils)?

I've also got a 2005 1.3cdti Vauxhall van, what would you recommend for this? I totally ignore the servicing intervals of 20000 miles and do it every 6000 miles because there's a known issue with the service intervals and the oil filters. If I do a search on your site for Vauxhall Corsa 1.3cdti it brings up very different results to any Fiat 1.3's? Due to it being the same engine what oil would you recommend? I've been using magnatec but don't really thinks it that's good?

Thanks Rich

Hi Rich

Which Titan 5w-40? There are a few.

The site sticks to the standard manufacturer specs, so it would list oils by the GM spec (LL-B-025) for the Corsa, but you don't really need them if you are changing at 6k. A 5w-40, like the Fuchs Supersyn or Gulf Formula G will be fine for that kind of use.

It's the Supersyn like the one you've recommended for the corsa. Why would you go for 5w40 over 5w30 for the 1.3cdti? Thanks Rich

Hi Rich

Either really, but I'd probably go for this as it's a better oil and pretty much the same price.

Supersyn 5w-40 is a decent choice for the MR2, but there are better oils without going for an ester one. The Fuchs GT1, Castrol Edge and Amsoil are a step up from the Supersyn without being ester based.

Cheers
