Just filled up the rad' and coolant and run the engine with the top off and a few bubbles popped up then all of a sudden some white froth started to appear - please dont tell me this is the Head Gasket gone !!!

Anyone know what it is ?

The car doesn't appear to smoke at all - help I'm worried now !!!

Regards - Gav.

Don't get too excited. Often when there is air in the system, it will form many small air particles and thus the froth appears, just make sure you've fully bled the system !

GAv,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news mate but I had this last summer mate!
HG was gone.

Obviously I may be wrong but the throthy stuff is due to the piston coming up and pressurising the coolant system! Loads of air in the coolant causes this. Mine was bad once the head was off i also had a cracked piston! DOH! So i had to have a rebuild! Not cheap mate!

Hoipe yours isnt that bad! :(

If your head gasket is gone between a cylinder and the coolant, if you run the enging with the pressure cap off, each time the cylinder comes up into compression it should send a whole load of air into the coolant and it would be forced out of the opening in the system (the missing pressure cap).

It's worth giving it a try.
