I'm looking to book a trackday in February to get some practice in the MR2 before the year begins.
Bedford is conveniently close for me but they seem very strict on noise (one strike and you're out).
My car currently has a short 3" system with very little baffling so is at the louder end of the MR2 spectrum. I'll be modifying the exhaust at some point but probably won't be done by then.
Anybody got experience of driving an MR2 at Bedford?

I think bedford limits are 97db. Stock exhausts are well within that.
Shouty turbo exhausts are probably not, so take a bung.

Most Bedford days are 101dB static, which shouldn't be a problem for most cars assuming they're doing the standard 3/4 max RPM test which is about 5200RPM. http://www.bedfordautodrome.co.uk/track ... endar.aspx
The problem at Bedford is the drive-by limit - 87.5dB @ 20 metres. This is where people get caught out.

So has anybody had experience of driving an mr2 turbo at Bedford?
Loud pipe? quiet pipe? did or did not have a problem?

Bedford are annoyingly anal.. I'd advise erring on the side of caution and possibly adapt your exhaust

If you want to do trackdays at most uk circuits i'd advise ponying up and buying a well designed exhaust.
I've never had a problem with noise at bedford mainly because I don't run stupid loud exhausts. Currently I use a HKS HiPower which has been fine at plenty of tracks.

Thanks,
Yeah the car is predominantly for track use so I will be either adding a silencer to the current pipe or buying another eventually, but due to a long list of other jobs to do it'll unlikely be done by February

Can't help on the MR2 front sorry, but in a pretty noisy Elise with Titan ITB's and 2ubular exhaust I got called in twice for excessive drive-by noise levels at Bedford.
They're usually pretty sound about trying to keep you on track and you can clearly see where the noise monitors are placed so just back off a bit in those areas if you do get a warning.

Unless you've got a really short upward facing screamer or you happen to backfire loudly right by a monitor I suspect you will be fine.
Can I open a can of worms about bungs/back pressure/EGTs/kaboom?

I'm looking to book a day at Bedford, I currently have a decatted mongoose exhaust, do you think I'll need some bunts for the exhaust, if so which ones do you guys recommend.
Will hopefully do a noise test soon

Turbo or N/A?
I went round all day with a decatted Mongoose and not a peep from anyone, except getting told off for Gavin's spin out because they mixed up the red MR2s
However, if your car is N/A, it will be louder so I can't say.

Gav loves to do a little pirouette int he run off areas!
Mongoose on a NA is unlikely to give you any problems.

Sorry should have said it was a turbo.
It was the drive by limit that worried me a little, the car is tuned properly so won't be popping and banging. Do you remember what your noise test result was?
Re: Noise limits at Bedford Autodrome - any MR2's too loud for it?
No but it wouldn't imagine it was much more than low 90s.
