Saturday 7th June, setting off from Edinburgh at 9am, meeting in the car park at the Crammond Brig car park as it's on route and large and always empty now that the pub is closed. I have been personally assured by the BBC that the weather will be as displayed in the pictures attached.
Crammond Brig Inn (or what formerly was, I believe it is now a steakhouse...?):

Updated route: ---
From there we'll drive past Stirling to Aberfoyle, so that we can take the Duke's Pass before carrying on to Callander and Crianlarich. Rest as required! From Crianlarich we drive north-west toward Glencoe. As you reach Glencoe, you have the choice of expediting the route and heading on to Fort William via the A82, or extending it into the 'Scotsburgring' by running up and down Loch Leven, then through to Fort William. Finally we head north-west along the A87 toward Dornie and ultimately, Applecross.
The route there - about 6-7 hours:

As for coming home, we first loop north around the coast to Sheildaig and Loch Torridon then it's cross-country to Inverness across some beautiful roads. Then it's straight back down the A9 to Edinburgh, which is going to be a five-hour route home all in. Not one for the uncommitted, then. I can't imagine it, but if appetites are still high, we could use the A93 instead, but I don't really rate it that highly so possibly not.

Have a look at heading into Applecross over the pass and back out North towards Shieldaig. The views across to Raasay and Skye are stunning and it gives you a cracking circular route.

Re: Drive to Applecross - Saturday June 7th
Noted, Sy, thanks for that. We're hoping to get plenty of video and photo evidence of the whole thing with people stopping a little ahead etc. etc.
That sounds like an excellent route though. I've been driven to Skye many times as a wee lad - but this'll be my first time behind the wheel!
Can't wait.

That route has you doing the Applecross pass twice though. If it we me, I'd head to Applecross using the pass and after a bite to eat at the Applecross Inn, head North along the coast to Shieldaig. Spectacular scenery beckons!

The adjusted route. Whether or not we'll manage all of this comes down to how people feel on the day. We'll really have to hoof it.

Re: Drive to Applecross - Saturday June 7th
soz, missed that 10am?? It's sunup at 5am , last time we did the Applecross we met up by the Strathcarron Hotel at 11am. Mind you, some of us had gone to Portree the day before so much shorter drive for us then. I'd advise getting petrol in Fort William as it has a few SUL stations and is 50miles closer to the next SUL garage. Can't remember if there's anymore up that route other than Inverness.

Re: Drive to Applecross - Saturday June 7th
Now that looks like an excellent day!
A fill up with super in Fort William should see you back to Inverness I reckon. Most of the roads to the East of Shieldaig are good for fast cruising, so most cars won't be on boost too much.
Wish I was there!

There's time yet, we don't set sail for another 22 days yet
One of our RX7s is a bit worried about running out of premium. He reckons he gets 220 to a tank...

Splash n dash.... fill up a tiny amount of regular (with Octane booster if poss) to give just enough to get to a decent station.
I lived most of my Tubby years this way!

I get nervous about the 220 mark too but I start looking at the 200mile mark. Anyways, fill up in Fort William and from there to Inverness via Applecross, Loch Torridon / Kinlochewe is about 200miles so it's do-able on one tank super but you HAVE to fill it in Fort William if you want SUL. Fill up in Inverness, sorted Would be a shame not to stop at Eilean Donan Castle when we go past it . I'd certainly move your start time forward to 6 or 7am but that's just me lol

Welcome to the team
We've got a few more confirmations now, including a 3.0L Supra MK3 and more. MK3 MR2 as well. Going to be great, considering a slightly earlier start - will update soon.
