it will be bought by an importer/trader, given a hair cut and sold onto an unsuspecting buyer, probably.

Prices may be on the rise, therising tide
(of the USA 25yr rule) lifts all ships, as they say.
it's been seven years since I bought my MR2
(fresh import at the time) and almost four since I sold it,
asking
prices seem to have gone up since I sold mine, not by that much though.

Importers are just used car dealers..
most are dishonest charlatans.
if you pay 1.5m for a car in japan and the importer is taking
£3000 out of the deal
then that's still less than
£20k.
there are a few exceptions in MR2 values, Ashleys GTS, George Lawtons drag car etc..
but these are barely MR2's anymore with tens of thousands of pounds spent on them.

If your're spending£10k plus on an MR2 you need your head checked.
.
they're just not that good.

£10k gets you into a manual 987 boxster S which is better in every way.
or
£10k gets you onto an S1000RR or 1199 Panigale, which are actually fast.

Wow, Not seen you on here in a while Rob!!! Yeah 20k is mental.Do expect to pay close to 10k for a decent rev3 plus though.
Becoming increasingly difficult to find them for much less.
Even rev1/2 are up at about
£5k these days.
Just FYI my turbo made 420 at the hubs on the turbo Owen Developments said was a tractor turbo.Spool is somewhat vicious as well.

Sounds harsh and it's not intended to be but time has moved on.IMO an almost perfect condition, sensibly/tastefully modified rev3+ turbo is never more than a
£5-7k driving experience, but the same can be said for all the rest of the 25yr+ jap scrap that's gone off the richter in price.
People paying
£25-30k for an R33 GTR, or up to 75k for an R34 for example, also want their heads checked.
.
you can get an actual good car for that money.
.
imagine paying 996/997 turbo money for a chavved up old nissan?

That applies to all sorts of old cars though..

Pretty much everything from the Ford camp that goes for silly money for example.
I don't think anyone would say a Mk2 Escort RS2000 is a
£20k driving experience.
Even the
"hot" Mk3 Escorts are going to stupid money now and they were xxxx when they were new! Its not about how it compares to more modern stuff, or more
"premium" stuff.

Any suggestions what you would spend that sort of money on instead rob?
