Recently sold my 4th MK2 MR2 to try out a Mini Cooper S...

...as good as the Mini is as soon as I heard about another MR2 being up for sale I knew I had to have it. May I introduce my 5th MK2 in 12 years
it's a TRD replica made from a REV4 tintop turbo:
some of you may recognise it one of a certain Mr Fimister's fleet of TRDs. I collected it last Saturday after a mammoth 760mile round journey that took me from 5.30am until 6.45pm to get there and back... there will be a few things I shall be doing to it to add my own personal stamp onto it in the near future, but for now it will be staying as is...

Chris
Not surprised, it's just perfect as it is.
Always nice to see a properly done TRD with the side strips. The cheaper ones have none and it makes them look too slabsided to me.
Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
Lovely motor, looks spot on!
Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
not the greatest fan of the TRDs but in white that looks great

Like that, really clean
Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
Dont normally like white cars but this has changed my mind looks insane!
Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
Looks really wel done. It looks like the front fogs have been brought forward to sit flush with the kit. Are the stearing fogs? Would make more sence to bring htme forward so they are not shrouded by the kit.

i'm sure i remember reading that he did as he preferred them that way, but he didn't bother doing it to the green one, he (fimmo) had that many it's hard to remember
Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
lol only had 3! the green one (scv6) was the first i built and that also had the fogs sitting flush rather than recessed, copied it when i built the white one too, some folk think it's more in line with the real trd if the fogs are further back in but i dont.
both cars dont have steering fogs although the white trd had jdm fogs that light up yellow, always loved that!

I said it before and I'll say it again, love this motor and would love to have bought only I need cash for things atm.
I'll have a trd one of these days.

Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
a couple of minor updates on this...
I bent the exhaust grill up (I'll grind it off properly and cover the exposed metal with some paint when I find my angle grinder after recently moving house):
(not the best photo, but it was taken with my iPhone)
I also fitted a small front number plate to enhance the look of the front end:
Oh yeah, I also recirculated my Blitz BOV with an adapter I fashioned from billet aluminium on the lathe at work, I just couldn't get on with the ptshhh sound (from the 'vent to atmosphere' trumpet on the Blitz) every time I changed gear:
Before:
New adapter fitted, and on the bench (with old atmosphere venting trumpet next to it):
Fitted:
My next major hurdle is to get the engine bay looking a little more, err, polished...

much better than not, there's no deep sounding 'Fast&Furious effect' that scares pedestrians as I drive past any more thankfully... you can still hear a muffled dumping effect, but I would say it's probably no louder than stock...
...although I do still have some fluttering from what I can only gather is the turbo stalling when no load is applied to the throttle. I need to have a go at adjusting the Blitz to try and get rid of that and hopefully all should be good with it.

Re: Chris' Rev4 TRD Turbo...
Well, today I had good and bad tidings...
first off I had the day off to take the car to Nathan at MRTwo's to get a new Exedy clutch fitted after the one in there was slipping, and with the track day at Silverstone coming up a week on Sunday I couldn't go on track and not be on full chat now could I?
Anyway, after getting up early and getting over to Nath by 9.00am, by 1.30pm I had a new clutch fitted and was heading home.
on the ramps:
New clutch kit:
Old clutch:
Now it's been fitted, i can't believe the difference, the car feels so much better and the speed picks up so well through all the gears without any slip... and the clutch pedal also feels so much better, it's no longer hard to press the pedal down and so much lighter on the foot...
...although with good tidings, comes bad news... on the way home I crashed into the back of a Peugeot 206...
I was going through some traffic lights, 3rd in the row of cars, when a young lad ran out in front of the lead car, that car slammed on the brakes and stopped, the second car braked late and stopped just in time, I didn't... I did brake and tried to swerve to miss the car but was to no avail, the impact was at around 10mph so no large unrepairable damage, but there is some damage...
- the wing mounting points were broken
- the bumper was pushed back into the bonnet
- the drivers side headlight has dropped
- there is a big hole in the front bumper
- there is some cracking to the paint on the front bumper
I worked on the car for 20 minutes when i got home and managed to straighten and reattach everything except straightening the gap between the bumper and the bonnet, the hole in the bumper and the cracking... everything else was reattached and straightened up as per before, although some things will need refixing properly when I repair the fibreglass in the bumper.
Anyway, some photos after my 20 minute repair job...
No bumper/bonnet gap:

...so today has been both a good day , and a bad day, so I think I've earned a JD & coke on a school night:
